New Spam Hoax - Energy Refunds
I thought for a few moments that I had missed a step. Received a hoax email allegedly from OFGEM today and I know it is fake. Mainly because I don't recall a scheme as described in the email. I double checked the OFGEM website which confirmed there is no such scheme. The embedded link is not a valid...

Re: 194, 202 and 450 bus drivers on strike
Never convenient if diversions mean that the temporary route makes it more difficult to reach a stop that the bus actually serves. On Perry Hill we have the 75 on diversion from its normal Woolstone Road route - but all bus stops on the diversion are being serviced. 75, 194 and 202 buses seem plenti...

Re: SE23/SE26.life are no more
It would seem se26.life has been formally closed today on 9 May 2022 and the landing page replaced with an RIP message.
SE23.life has not yet been given the same treatment although it remains the case that posts cannot be made on the site.

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order
In short - yes. And subject to the Archdiocese complying with conditions which also had a 4-month window in which the works must be started. From the evening of when the last Public Meeting took place in early April 2022, the architect has completed the materials selection and have altered the speci...

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order
The omni-present and seemingly righteous reach of Simon Hughes is harvesting increasing problems and difficulties for his employer, the Archdiocese of Southwark. As well as his approach, describable at best as being hostile towards residents and those he perceived as not being supportive of his OLSP...

Re: Armed Criminality in Sydenham - Again
An armed robbery - this time in Dartford by a Sydenham resident who has been sentenced to five years and four months in prison. An armed robber from Sydenham has been jailed after threatening to kill a bank worker at Lloyds Bank in Dartford. Roy Sinclair, of Otterden Street in Sydenham, handed himse...

Re: Tue 29 March - Recycling?
Lewisham announce they are experiencing delays to a small number of bin collections, because of national driver shortages and COVID-related absences. Advising that if your bin has been missed, please leave it out and it will be collected as soon as possible - collections will continue into the weeke...

Re: OLSPN and the Sydenham Society
A good point. OLSPN refers to Our Lady and St Philip Neri school located at 208 Sydenham Road Sydenham London SE26 5SE. The use of the abbreviation has become the norm in what is a lengthening dialogue around the mismanaged rebuilding of the school over the last few years. There are several threads ...

I was going to add that punchline to my post.
But I though it polite to leave the door open for others.
Delivered by you with aplomb and good timing.

I'm breaking out a new mask for this important event.
Not sure there is advantage beyond the good practice of wearing one in pandemic times.
Trouble is masks tend to make us all look like bank robbers.

I think people here should stop giving' Big Kev' his daily bread. What do they say about feeding pigeons and trolls? Agreed. Both in attitude and opinion, the poster's expressions and their tone are the only posts that seek to sow seeds of doubt. We have seen this approach of endeavouring to sow an...

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order
Thanks JGD - lots of opinions there and they sound heartfelt. Hope you feel better and get some closure and can move onto another project soon. I’m still really confused though as to why you and Stuart thought the World Book Day thing was at this school; it’s a totally different school. I hope no r...

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order
Stuart's synopsis is a precise narrative about the nature of the problem, its root cause and the sequence of events that led to this poor quality outcome. But Big Kev - the issue from this portion of the thread is a comparison of the behaviours of one of the Archdiocese's principal officers, Simon H...

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order
Absolutely no worries - you have caused no angst - not here at least. Angst - and the generation of it - has been a useful tool for officers of the Archdiocese in the many layers of dialogue in which they engage - whether that be with the LPA, the residents and businesses who are neighbours of the s...

New Rail Commuter Service – Challenge to Southern Rail
A new commuter service is being launched to challenge failing Southern Rail in SE London. Focussed on Forest Hill, ScootRail will run high tech rail e-scooters on the London Bridge - Victoria route and the main Forest Hill - London Bridge route both daytime and at weekends. ScootRail have secretly t...

Re: Tue 29 March - Recycling?
We were missed on our regular day last week - but collected one day later. The bin teams are still being left short-handed periodically because of the ongoing pandemic. Have to admire the service as a whole as despite occasional gaps they have delivered a consistently good service throughout. Big th...
