Proposal to make Byne and Wiverton Roads one way
LB Bromley, reference ADE(TP)/RP/T100/763 Seems as though it might be a good idea to me, given how often you'd see one vehicle having to reverse down the road on encountering one travelling in the opposite direction. Surprised to see that LBB thinks that both roads are in Penge, though, when Venner ...

Byne Road planning application
To add to the collection of planning applications, spotted in the News Shopper:

So that's what the "Road closed" in Penge was.
Makes a change to see those buses diverted down Newlands Park, instead of having the 75 and 194 diverted down Lawrie Park.

Re: TfL rules out regular London Overground trains to London Bridge
It is the upward leg to London that is the pain because the Southern train pulls into Norwood Junction and you have to negociate the poor stairs to reach the Overground platform. Which means if you have lugage, push chairs, etc it is really difficult, when all that needs to happen is for TfL to ope...

Re: Positive note about the forum!
I monitor Twitter/X for local news stories. There used to be a dozen or so a day. Now it's more like 1 or 2. The number of active posters* has reduced to one handful. Some have stopped, others post very occasionally. The local press (Newsshopper & SLP) did the same so their expanded stories hav...

Re: Barratt Homes / gasholders site: make your comments NOW!
The latest discovery is that Barratt's design showing Bell Green Works as a virtually ‘car-free’ development, with no parking on site, other than 8 blue-badge parking spaces, is wrong. In an appendix, it is revealed that TfL demands that an additional 18 blue-badge parking spaces be available on de...

But LBG isn't on the Overground! Sorry, the Windrush line. Or the ELL, as I shall go on calling it.
Glad to know there is some prospect of getting the rest of the service reinstated, although it's too late for me. I presume there's no sign of similar movement from Southeastern via Penge East.

Nope. It still says 18 storeys on the Bromley planning website.
I'd forgotten about this site, which has useful information:

Re: Planning application for 18-storey tower block (and more) in central Penge
I don't know whether I misread the original application or whether there was an error, but I definitely read it as 18 still, until I saw the NewsShopper article saying it was 16. But that's still far too high for the area. Are you sure about that deadline? It says "within 21 days of the publica...

Re: Boundary commission - Sydenham to combine with Dulwich
I'd totally forgotten we'd discussed this until I did a search for "constituency" today after I received Labour's latest missive and realised that we're back to being Beckenham and Penge again after all these years (shades of the Piers Merchant years!). Never did seem to make much sense to...

Re: Planning application for 18-storey tower block (and more) in central Penge
I see from the NewsShopper that a revised application has now been put in for the Blenheim Centre, still with an 18-storey tower block. I thought it was Bromley's policy to notify people who object to an application when a revised application is made, but I'm still waiting. The application number is...

I knew it was a chain, on account of the others I've seen around (Clock House, anyone?), but I didn't know it was that local.

Lack of buses
Just wondering how those people who need access to the Newlands Park area are managing without their bus services (75/194) for 2 months?
I was supposed to be doing something in the Sydenham area but abandoned plans when I found out there was no bus service anywhere in the immediate vicinity.

Sydenham's "burgeoning" high street?
I don't get into Sydenham much these days, but I was interested to find a reference to it having a "burgeoning" high street here: https://www.standard.co.uk/homesandproperty/buying-mortgages/new-homes-awards-2023-family-home-investing-property-schools-b1097606.html *Is* it actually burgeon...

Re: Water Pressure - Lawrie Park Road
It seems that Thames Water have been rezoning their supply system to try and reduce the leakage. It used to be 4bar and now it has been reduced to 1.8bar, which is still more than the minumum that OFWAT stipulate of 1bar to the property. Really? I don't suppose you think they would have done the re...
