Re: Sydenham house prices up by 50k?
The housing market from my recent involvement in attempting to become a first time buyer is indeed absolutely mental. Lots of places going for way over asking price cos of bidding wars and having to essentially put an offer in on a place after seeing it just the once and not having time to think abo...

Re: Zanzibar Alternative Uses
Related to a few comments on here, and although strictly not sydenham - have just read of "Louise House" (between Forest Hill library and pools) being opened up as an arts studio soon with a forum poster/shop owner on se23.com stating that it may have a pop-up theatre and/or cinema potenti...

Re: Hideous new addition to Sydenham. I pay not.
I'm with leenewham on this. All just depends on what it can contribute to the community and look of the high street - If it fits in nicely/looks nice and gives locals who do want one a local place to go plus giving some employment then no harm no foul. Would be nice if it had a brucie bonus for the ...

Just send Lewisham council both a "comment" and a "complaint" which included some choice cuts from the forum thread and a link to the full discussion aswell. Here's hoping...

Zanzibar Alternative Uses
The Cinema option is something that a gentleman who is part of "the film mill" was doing a bit of research for (I spotted it in an old post and replied to his survey/him) - He suggested he was still looking into doing something on a small scale in Sydenham. I suggested looking at "Whi...

Re: Change of use 98 Kirkdale ( Behind the Boxes) to takeawa
Hopefully council will refuse as there are already a number of takeaways very close by and this is, as one member rightly said, probably about 100m from the school. It's not that I'm against takeaways per se but it just seems as if 1. There are plenty already in the area, 2. It's not likely to have ...

Re: Where's a good place to go for coffee in Syd?
Somehow managed to come across this old post which became a bit of a forum about places for ideas/places for people to take kids to, not just where has the best coffee etc.. Anyways, came across this on the Kirkdale Village Facebook Group so thought would post it up here for some who may be interest...

Re: Christmas Tree Recycling
One of my pals got an eco christmas tree of sorts this year and was pretty happy with it and considered the price not too far off what you'd pay for one off a highstreet/garden centre. You basically get a live, locally sourced (or as local as possible!) christmas tree for X days over the period then...

Re: Pavilion closed
I've noticed in all this chat about pubs in Sydenham (and in other threads) there is never really any chat about "Foxes" or "The Bricklayers arms", which although is maybe ever so slightly closer to Forest Hill is definately closer then The Dulwich Woodhouse. Any reviews!?

Re: Thank You to Billings
This Billings place really does sound like it is deserving of a bit more recognition... Just spotted this on another forum regarding Radio 4's "you and yours" best retailer - an award that celebrates the local shops that enrich our lives, our high streets and our communities by selling del...

I e-mailed a whole bunch of places a few weeks back when I was getting all sorts of excited about the prospect of moving to Sydenham (still in process but fingers crossed things are going well/looking good) and the chat about pubs. Here is a list of the places I mailed (and the best found contact em...

PS: The Dulwich Woodhouse appears to be the closest recommended pub by the good beer guide - not a pub which has cropped up on my travels round the forum yet.. any good?

Re: Microbrewery - tomorrow, one night only!
Beer Rebellion is indeed a lovely little place to drink, especially the downstairs granny living room and hidden small outdoor quarters. On my last visit, whilst propping up the bar and having a good old chinwag with the staff seemed to indicate (as well as some of the "decor" downstairs&q...

Re: Microbrewery - tomorrow, one night only!
I've been to beer rebellion opposite gypsy hill station (their first pop-up/now permanent I think small pub) and the ales and feel for the place are first class. Well worth a visit to this one night only thing and/or the pub. Be worth having a word in their ear and ask about opening another one roun...

Re: Christmas Card Café?
Maybe a tad late and similar idea but you could always do a cheeky little secret santa if people know each other a bit/wanna do something a bit more fun. Everyone interested chucks their name in, someone takes charge to randomly pull names for people (I'm happy to do so if this flies as the organise...
