Re: Better buy: Sydenham or West Norwood?
I bought a flat in West Norwood in 1996 and lived there until 2003...the high street was grim then and during a housing boom never got any better. The only up side is the housing stock is for the most part Victorian and affordable but that's as far as it goes plus transport is poor at best. I had lo...

Keep your eyes peeled..
Just a warning really, today my wife disturbed 2 guys poking around the lock on my motorbike that is chained to a ground anchor outside my house. When challenged they asked for "John" before quickly jumping in their van and speeding off, I have no doubt that they intended to steal the bike...

Re: The Railway Pub
Well we would all like to think that but if someone suggested a drink in the Railway in Sydenham and I hadn't heard about the refurb I would be questioning their sanity but if they suggested a drink in the Pavillion I would be inclined to give it a go.

Re: The Railway Pub
I agree that pubs shouldn't change their names (unless it's already stupid - Two Halfs) but I can understand why the new owners would not want to keep the old name, they need to attract new customers after all
Re: Allotment
Off Kent House Lane, the end of Cricket Lane apparently
Re: Allotment
Just out of curiosity Willy, how long were you on the waiting list, because I have been thinking about signing up to get one, but apparently it takes forever... I contacted the 3 nearest me (you can get a list from the council) and put my name down around May I think. All of them told me the waitin...
Allotment
It seems I have managed to get an allotment, anyone got any advice or know a good online resource so I can plan my veg growing properly?

Re: Fouling dogs
Unfortunately this is not limited to Byne Road. There are a number of local scum dog owners who let their dogs leave their eggs all over Newlands Park and the roads surrounding Alexandra Rec. On my morning walk to work I often see owners watch their dog do the business then look around to see if any...

Re: Roller Skater Hater
I have seen loads of people on roller skates recently, thought it was the 1970's again for a minute! Not sure hanging off the back of a bus is particularly bright given the state of the roads but this is just natural selection in practice....

It may well be but during the course of their argument the other gentlemen said "F**k off Spider you c**t!" so I naturally assumed that was his name/nicknameHis name is David actually

Re: The two half's is under offer
I noticed yesterday that the two half's entrance looks like a new gathering space for the street drinkers. When I walked past on Monday evening they seemed to be having a great time...one was having a p1ss against the wall, a woman (in the loosest sense of the term) was smoking a spliff, tattooed f...

I was under the impression that part of being granted indefinite leave to remain was that you would not claim any benefits (it certainly is for my wife)?

Impending Roadworks between Cobbs Corner and Mayow Road
I just noticed some signs have appeared informing us of some roadworks on this stretch that will be going on from September 2012 to September 2013, anyone know what this is for? We have only just got over the gas main works that seemed to take the best part of 3 years...

Re: Will you use the new Greyhound Pub?
I would definitely welcome another decent pub locally, especially near the station however I'm not sure at what point the Greyhound was this great pub that everyone seems to remember...I went in there in the mid 90's and it was pretty rough with some very unsavoury characters.
