Bottle Mysteriously sophisticated, darkly alluring, almost
Satanic: absinthe was the drink of choice for Baudelaire, Verlaine and Wilde.
It inspired paintings by Degas and Manet, van Gogh and Picasso.
Jad Adams is an acclaimed journalist and author. He

Summer Open Exhibition & Beach Party!
For the first time ever, Kirkdale Bookshop has invited
everyone and anyone to submit artworks for its Summer Open Exhibition.
To go with the exhibitions Food theme and,
perhaps, even tempt the sun to shine, we will be transforming the pavement
outside the shop into a tropical beach, complete with barbecue, palm trees,
music, and fruit punch. |

Philosophy for Children
What is a mind and is it the same thing as a brain?
Could everything be a dream? What came first, the chicken or the egg? Is time
travel possible?
Philosophy explores these and many other mindboggling
questions.
An introductory philosophy session for children aged
approximately 9-11. Tickets are free but space is limited. Book
