Kirkdale Bookshop - 02/04/05

The Award - 02/04/05

Royal Gurkha Downham

Geraldine, proprietor of the Kirkdale Bookshop, just missed out on adding another piece of silverware for the trophy cupboard. The Bookshop were the first ever winners of 'Best Customer Service' in Lewisham's Business Awards 2005. But last night were "pipped at the post" for the 2008 'Who Do You Love?' prize.

The winner was Barbaros Hair Salon of Honor Oak. Indeed South Lewisham, for once, trounced Deptford and the north of the borough making our Julie Sutch a very happy Town Centre Manager. Honor Oak is also in her patch as is Downham which is host to the 'Royal Gurkha Restaurant - overall winner at the Awards ceremony.

We hear that Sugahill, Blue Mountain, Sydenham DIY and The Dolphin were all amongst the finalists. Evidence that there are some rising stars in our High Street which are so easily overlooked.

Do pop in and comfort Geraldine by buying a book or a CD. Despite what Lewisham thinks it must be the best loved business in Sydenham by several leagues. With no disrespect to some formidable competition!
