Radio Sydenham is an idea of Peter Aleskin of the Here
for Good Centre in Sydenham Road. Here for Good is part of the Forest Hill
Community Church.
The feasibility study has been funded by a grant from
Lewisham Council.

Update
The first meeting of the feasibility group was held at
the 'Here for Good' centre on saturday 24th November. About 30 people attended
to a presentation by Peter including some examples from the Radio Peckham
project.
A number of workshops followed by presentations looked
into the initially scope, interest, creative ability and technical costs of
setting up Radio Sydenham as an independent organisation. A particular area of
concern was whether it should concentrate on becoming an online
podcast/streaming station using the internet as the broadcast medium or apply
for an initial 28 day AM radio tranmission licence from OFCOM.
The costs could range from a few hundred pounds to
begin podcasting to around £100,000 of some other radio transmitting
community stations.
A further meeting is planned at the Here for Good
Centre on Saturday 8th December at 10.30am.
