I've just got back from a drink at the Woodman and I'm very disappointed. The place seemed pretty rowdy, the music was ok but too loud and most of the clientele were regulars from Fox's. My glass of house red turned out to be cheap Stowells on tap at the bar (and ice cold). Not sure how Merv is plan...

I had my scooter stolen from Fransfield Grove last Saturday about midnight. It wasn't used for joyriding – we found it in the alley at the end of Rosamond Grove, completely stripped of everything except the wheels with the chains still on them (although they'd tried their best to cut them off). I st...

My cats had fleas last year and the vet told me that the stuff they sell in the pet shop for carpets etc doesn't work - you need to get the home spray and the flea treatment from a vet as they hold a licence to supply the extra-strong stuff. I have floorboards so didn't bother, but the flea spot-on ...

Yes, in hindsight it is an obvious escape route - but, in my defence, I was a first-timer.

The thing about Lidl is that you can only leave via the tills - so when I popped in and they didn't have what I was looking for, I couldn't actually get out of the shop. The entrance is all high-security one-way and the tills were totally blocked with bargain-hunting customers. Several moments of pa...

I was mugged about a year ago when I lived in Battersea. I was just walking home down the street where I lived in the early evening, but was unlucky that there was no-one around at that moment. You can't do much to prevent it if it's going to happen, but don't take risks - if there's a choice of a s...

Power cut AGAIN

Has anyone else had a power cut today? We live in Fransfield Grove and have had no power since 11am - I've just phoned EDF and have been told that it's a damaged cable and an engineer is on the case, but I've got to call back after 5.30 to find out a timescale of how long it will take to fix.

I heard that the old Blockbuster was bought/leased out to the people who own WHSmith and Boots. Would be good to have a decent branch of either as the ones in Forest Hill are too small really. FYI Sydenhamboy: For Your Eyes Only on Dartmouth Road is a brilliant dvd hire place. The owner's really int...

Tip: Instead of going all the way round the one-way, you can turn left just after the bus stop/pub down Doggett Road, loop round to Thomas Lane and turn right towards Wickes at the traffic lights. I only know this because I was stung with a fine for the forbidden right turn so studied the A-Z. Wicke...
