Re: Hyde Housing are awful

Hello I have first hand experience of Hyde. Having been a tenant for over 10 years in the Thorpes area. I worked and paid full rent, which increased by RPI + 0.5% + £2 year on year, despite the fact my salary didn't! Trying to get them to do any repairs was a joke. I had a garden fence broken around...

Re: Southern Trains Franchise

Southeastern are the pits! They are a hell of a lot worse than Southern trains.

I'll be moving soon and will soon have no choice but to use SE train service. Absolutely dreading it

Re: Thank You to Billings

I agree

Billings is brilliant.

We're in there at least once a week. All our meat and fish are purchased from Billings.
Friendly bunch with great quality food.

Re: Too many estate agents on Sydenham Road?

Hi thanks to you both for replying. You both made some good points. Whilst I agree that estate agents are a sign an area is on an "up", I agree with Juliet that there are too many of them and they are taking all the prime positions on the main road. I forgot to add, we also have too many f...

Re: Sydenham improvement works

It looks like Queensthorpe Road will be a no-through road once the improvements are complete. There is already a "T" sign at the end of the road, the way the paving is, looks like it will be another blocked road, like Venner Road. Although this only increases the traffic through Earlsthorp...

Re: Sydenham under a new flight path?

Hi I've noticed the significant increase in aircraft noise. At 06:15 daily without fail a loud noisy aeroplane flies overhead. Sometimes it's so loud I have to pause the TV to let the airplane go by before resuming a show. I hope this is not permanent. Being in the garden isn't that enjoyable with t...

Too many estate agents on Sydenham Road?

Hi Everyone, it's been an age since I last posted on here. As always, the forum is very insightful into the events occurring within Sydenham. Is it just me or does anyone else think that there are way too many estate agents on Sydenham Road? Last time I checked there was Hunters, Pedders, Mann Count...

good on you bensonby :) I wish my journey enabled me to by this ticket because I'd be right there with you. I'd rather argue with the staff at Sydenham than have to travel from Lower Sydenham using Southeastern and get on the DLR  Let us know how you get on, you will be the bane of their existe...

They have to let you through on a lower sydenham ticket. Even though you have a season ticket, Lower Sydenham is in zone 4 and technically further out than Sydenham station which is in zone 3.

I was planning to go to Sydenham station and take part in the debate, but unfortunately, due to migraines and high blood pressure was bed bound instead. I watched the video and nothing has surprised me. The mayor and MP had no power to do anything. They were merely observers. Southern and TFL have n...

Hi IMO logic would state that if you have a season ticket from London Bridge to London Victoria to use on the railway, there are 2 routes to take: 1) London Bridge via Peckham Rye to Victoria 2) London Bridge via Forest Hill and Crystal Palace to Victoria These routes go through zones 1-3-1. In effe...

Hi Speaking of someone who lives in a property that has Hyde Housing as a social landlord my advice is don't get your hopes up. As a tenant I feel that my landlord takes the rent and provides no service whatsoever apart from annual gas servicing. I was shocked when they retiled the roof, must have b...

Well I've been getting on the 07:40am to Cannon Street every morning and can say that by the time the train pulls in to Lower Sydenham there's no seats, you can just about get into the train. This train service needs a minimum of 10 carriages, it's really not fair on the people from New Beckenham (m...

I'm going to be trying out Lower Sydenham again as new work location. I really hope it's less busy and I can get a seat on the 07:40 train. I have to disagree about Sydenham, 99% of the time I get a seat. It's just about knowing what carriage and train to catch  forget the 07:45 to LBG. Sydenh...

that is just pathetic and ridiculous. So someone using a pay as you go oyster who has brought a travelcard will have to pay extra money if they use the station? So they are going to program the machine to differentiate between pay as you go and season ticket on oyster. It gets more ridiculous as tim...
