Last week we had our dear old floor standing 30 year old Potterton replaced by a geewizz wall hung Worcester Bosch. I've just spent a couple of days at the Worcester Bosch factory in, er, Worcester to see just how great they are. Expensive but well worth the extra dough compared to some of the boil...

I don't mean to sound rude but why do you think the houses on the park side of Crystal Palace Park Road, Thicket Road, Anerly Hill etc were built?? To raise money to keep the park going maybe? It's been mentioned on this forum a lot of times, please do a quick search. Nothing in this life is free; w...

I'm sorry to say I'm not coming back to SE20 at all now. Lost my sweetheart, car and small business. Oh yeah, and my friends, who just when I need them have alienated me thanks to their ignorance of dysthymic disorder / double depression. Google them they make excellent reading... Go on still_robbo,...

Away for a while

Due to personal reasons I have moved away for a while.
I hope to be back in the area in spring/early summer, as soon as I can afford a place of my own.
Will miss the walkabouts and those of you who know me from the forum.

All the best

Re: Need help wiring mains cables

To add to Lemonade's answer... I didn’t note what was connected to where. It's always good practice to mark the phase /switch conductors (wires) with red sleeving or insulation tape (brown for installs after April 2006) Makes life so much easier in the future. In the ceiling there were two mains cab...

The classical music was Handel.

Can't remember the exact parts but will let you know later tonight when the missus gets back from her gig.

Hmmm :) Shower design load = 10.8 kW Supply voltage to earth = 230v Therefore 10800 / 230 = 46.95 Amps (or 45.0 amps if calculated to the old 240v method) So the 45A fuse, in theory, should've been feeding the shower. The fuse wire in your 30A carrier will have completely vapourised when it blew. Ma...

Extra:

The isolator in your airing cupboard does just that - isolates the 'fixed equipment' for maintenance. There is no requirement - in this instance- for the circuit to be fused other than at the distribution board (fuse box).

Hi Stone-Penge and Lemonade (sorry to hijack the thread!) That was a pretty large fault to clear the Main Fuse, those things are designed to withstand a let-through energy (fault current) of many times their rated setting (we're talking kiloamps over milliseconds) You say you have a 45A fuse which h...

Hi lemonade

Am after a 10kV (not kVA) neon transformer, preferably 50mA for a little project at home. :)

Any suggestions on sourcing one from the local area would be grand.

Cheers

Edit: Ebay is a little bit quiet right now
