Re: Licence application for gambling……
Good news for those of us who objected to this, Lewisham Council have refused the planning application for this. Of course they will probably appeal the decision but hopefully that stance by the council will not change. How strange. I wonder what woke the Planning Committee up. Ah yes! An election ...

Re: Lewisham Mayor "elected" by 10% of the electorate
I think the only question that needs asking is this: is the population of Lewisham 100 per cent Labour? If it is not (and, spoiler alert, of course it isn't) then shouldn't its governance, at least through representative opposition, reflect the more than 40 per cent of residents who regularly vote ...

Re: Lewisham Mayor "elected" by 10% of the electorate
Or one could argue that over 99% didn't vote for the candidate who would abolish the Mayorship. So they couldn't be bothered one way or the other? I don't think you can surmise what the non-voters want. Every referendum on the topic has resulted in a resounding rejection of the principle of "e...

Lewisham Mayor "elected" by 10% of the electorate
80% of the electorate said "We do not want an elected mayor". Their voice was ignored and the voice of the 10% prevailed.
What a travesty!

Re: Barratt Homes / gasholders site: make your comments NOW!
I think he's arguing against car free developments. The issue here is that the area has quite poor transport links (for an inner London borough). The stations are all a fair walk away and the lines don't transport east and west very effectively. Bus capacity is restricted by the railway line and lo...

Re: Barratt Homes / gasholders site: make your comments NOW!
Amazing how the choice of words can corrupt the public interest. The Authority changed its rules for parking provision from ONE parking place per residence to "less than one parking place per residence". The intention was quite clear. Developers could develop if they could not quite meet ...

Re: Tonight! Gasholder site planning meeting
You will be wasting your time if you contact councillors. They routinely ignore correspondence about planning issues. My recently new neighbours applied for planning consent. They failed to consult and indeed refused point blank to discuss what they proposed. I placed on objection on their applicati...

Re: Lewisham's mayoral by-election
a lack of choice. Not a single suitable candidate. The least unelectable would appear to be the Conservative. I wonder whether the changes supposedly made by Egan remain in place after he goes. They were entirely cosmetic of course. He ruled as he wanted despite the appearance of a cabinet. His meth...

hmmmm 2023 was not a year to remember... Too many catastrophies, including the demise of my precious dog. 2024: I hope to escape the clutches of the Peoples' Republic of Lewistan... and the misery of living under the rule of Khan. I shall not move to Wales though... Too much like Khanistan. 20mph ev...

Good Riddance.
Now can we return Lewisham to a democratic form of Local Government?
The Manager Mayor system has been a disaster.

Re: Bell green transport meeting Saturday 30th September
A major contribution would be to re-align the railway to a lower level (very much pooissble and feasible) and construct a road bridge over it. (dual carriageway). Conflicts between pedestrians and vehicular traffic are better served by speeding the flow of traffic and separating the two where possib...

I wonder what happened
So many Police crowding into one of the dairy houses in Knighton Park Road. Those houses are so small a dozen people would crowd them and yet dozens and dozens of Police piled in and later trotted out... Ambulance... two paramedics' cars... The road remains blocked by a Police Car. I wonder what it ...

Re: Car Stolen
It gets worse. The man who delivered my temporary hired car told me this was the fifth he had delivered that day FOR THE SAME REASON! From what I can gather, the thieves are targeting the cars of people with disabilities (making this a hate crime) and in particular Toyotas. According to the rules th...
