Re: Beer Steer

Thanks for all of the encouragement guys :D Love that the Alex does 1/3 pints. I didn't know that. I confess I have been possibly distracted by their cocktail menu. I'm very seasonal in my drinking tastes, so likely to go for ale & stout in winter. I'll definitely give the Blackshore a go before...

Beer Steer

Clearly there are a lot of beer lovers on this forum. I confess I am a little ignorant to beer (I used to be a real ale drinker in my teens but now only have the odd lager in the summer). Last summer I was reminded of the joy of a decent beer and wondered whether other local beer lovers would help m...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Well I love pumpkin seeds and butternut squash etc. as I like something to counter the booze calories with a healthy option when I can. I also like greens with my sausage and mash - one reason I rarely order this and similar dishes on a pub menu, is that there are never enough vegetables. I would lo...

Re: New yoga studio?

It may be worth bearing in mind that the reality of Council Funding is such that the engagement with local communities and industry is no longer what it was. Back in the day, you would be able to have a conversation about what was and wasn't viable, how to get passed "go" and what and how ...

Re: Garage at the top of Newlands Park gone?

I was concerned when Volkspares closed but now the site is being tidied up, it looks like this is a positive change. Its a great size and location for a proper garage. I hope it looks super smart when finished. I wonder what the full story was here? Was it considered a "contaminated site" ...

Re: Some sort of bar/beer shop

Just to help peoples confidence in shopping locally - I have price-checked a couple of bottles and have found them only to be about £1 more expensive than the big supermarkets. It certainly has given me the green light to drop in and pick something up from Bob's and I am sure will be the same in Bot...

Re: 20 mph speed limits

Obviously an emotive subject for some who are very fixed in their opinions. I understand what Gillyp was trying to say before she was pounced on. i.e. the psychology of positive / engaged driving as opposed to the disengaged dawdling at low speed. Each driving style may suit one individual, but not ...

Re: Mural?

Congratulations and thanks for taking out so much of your time on behalf of the community. Personally I still feel that a large piece intended to cover over all of those panels would not really work as you would need to design working with the gradient and recesses. A splurge over the top would look...

Re: Mural?

I don’t think station approach is the right spot either. Station approach would look great with a living wall but other than that I think there are so many areas around Sydenham that need smartening up and TFL are responsible, so we already have a “throat to choke” for want of a better expression....

Re: Mural?

Yes, like the typeface. Simple "Destination achieved". It's like a rubber stamp. Like the Green Dragon weathervane and branded bin ideas too. Weathervane would go well on the top of the old Cobb's Dept. store. Although I think we need a slightly more dragon-like/updated dragon. Hopefully s...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green

I think people probably got behind the “save the gas holders” campaign to simply stop more of the same awful residential blocks going up without care. Unfortunately, options are limited to ensure that developers build nice housing, or something with some class or character and do not build a bunch o...
