I suppose I could use the water from the rain butt for this purpose. It just makes it all a bit more of a faff though doesn't it and then one might be less inclined to make the effort!

A proper fish and chip shop would be great. I've only tried the one near the cake shop once and it was awful so haven't been back.

Dotkin - now the Christmas tree is down there are a couple of high chairs in its place waiting to be used! Yes, I agree with Poppy about maybe having a few cushions about. I spent a couple of hours there yesterday having brunch and reading the papers. It was lovely. They were very busy for the time ...

Thanks for the info on recycling cartons. I check the Lewisham periodically for updates on their recycling situation but didn't know about the carton points. A friend of mine works in waste management and we have had many a discussion about recycling. One recent discussion was about "washing an...

I think it is the same as weekdays and varies from season to seaon. I imagine it is being opened up at about 7ish in the morning and being closed about 4.30-5pm ish at the moment. I was there last week and closing times were displayed as 4pm for some areas (dinosaur walk) and 4.45pm for others.

A white line in front of a drive way surely doesn't mean anything? Parking on my street is a nightmare as well. What would be the front garden to my property has been a parking space for as long as I've lived there and I imagine since the properties were converted (20 or so years ago). Many of the p...

I've been thinking about that as well and was just talking about this shop the other day. Downstairs they have a couple of rooms and a kitchenette plus shower room. It would be a good place for a beauty salon of some description but as we've already got a few of those in the area we need something n...

I suppose things really do come down to personal taste. I like the decor in Sugahill as it is fairly neutral but tasteful. I know though that they are looking into getting artwork for the wall possibly from a local artist which people could then buy if they wanted to like lots of places do. This wou...

Pizza Toscana in Penge is on that funny bit of road where the buses can turn where there is a pub on one corner. Near the alms houses. Does that help?

Having now tried both of our new cafes I have to say I come down on the side of Sugahill. Great value. Really friendly. Nice coffee and cake. On all counts I prefer it to Blue Mountain which I think is overpriced in comparison. Weirdly as well, Sugahill can actually seat as many if not more people t...

I've finally eaten at The Honor Oak and thought the food was really good. Have to disagree with Stringfellow I'm afraid! Reasonable prices, really good portion sizes and very tasty.

In complete contrast to my meal at the Dolphin.
