Re: Sydenham under a new flight path?
JRobinson could be right, although may not be. All I know is that when I'm sitting by the window working I see quite a few planes flying over, but then I've only been living here full-time for a few months, so may just be more sensitive to it.

Re: Planning change - democracy denied?
Doesn't sound good. I've not as yet had any dealings with Lewisham, but earlier experience with Bromley is that a) only 3 properties on either side of the site get notified, even about something major like a new development (we had to notify neighbours ourselves about what would have been a major re...

Re: Sydenham under a new flight path?
I've recently noticed a fair number flying what appears to be roughly parallel to Sydenham High Street - northwards. Not sure whether it's any more than usual, or whether I've just become more conscious of them.

Re: Hello there Sydenham! Tell me about yourself
I too was going to recommend the Alexandra Rec for dog-walking: it has a nice little circuit, so you can go round it as many times as you feel like. Or even, if you happen to be at the Penge East end, cross over the railway, go onto the main road and there's another park - I forget the name - on the...

Didn't realise they were that wide-ranging. Thanks. Still rather the wrong side of the railway for me, though.

Re: Wednesday 21 August - Celebrate One Year of SEE3
Okay, this is where I finally decide to put my hand up and in embarrassment ask what SEE3 is. (Bear with me: I've only been living in Sydenham a few months). I see the term being bandied around the forum a lot, but never an explanation. Presumably something to do with the regeneration of Sydenham?

Only spotted it a month or two ago when I was hurrying for a train, so glad to know it's a regular event. Thanks.

Re: New street lights
I'm a bit bemused by all this "new street lights" business, because when I come out of Penge East station I see signs up that work is due to start. Yet Penge East and its environs are in Bromley Borough, and the new lights are supposed to be a joint endeavour between Lewisham and Croydon?

Heard a fair bit about it, but never been. Think it's the wrong side of the railway for me?

Re: Sydenham improvement works
And I see the 194 and 75 buses are on diversion for a couple of days (thought it was nights, not sure now). Don't remember seeing anything at the bus stops on Saturday, just came back to Penge East last night and was surprised to see Diversion signs up and hoods on the bus stops.

Now you mention it, reception is possibly better at the moment, but then I haven't been watching a lot of TV this week.

Re: Co-Op down
Now if The Windmiil was turned into a pub such as EDT then it would welcome a better clientele also make our area better & more affluent. That is why I would rather a Sainsburys or Waitrose there then the current pub. I really find this 'ship the riff raff out' attitude unbearable. This isn't E...

Re: Tesco Sydenham Road Now Open
I think I can probably manage not to buy anything in there quite easily: after all, I've managed with the Penge branch ever since it's been open - and that doesn't have any other alternatives in the immediate vicinity ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Oh yes, I forgot to mention the weather as a possible culprit. This started before the really hot weather did, though, if that's relevant at all.

Poor Freeview reception over the last few days?
Is it just me, or has Freeview reception become very poor over the last few days, maybe since midweek? I'm frequently getting the picture breaking up very considerably along with what sounds like rather alien "chirping" noises, and sometimes even get a blank screen with "No signal&quo...

Re: Sydenham Station Pedestrian Crossing
Now you mention it, when I tried to cross there this afternoon I ended up crossing when the northbound traffic was stationary and there was a break in the southbound. I realise it can't be expected to respond instantly for every person wanting to cross the road, but surely a happy medium is achievab...

Re: Jim Dowd - Primaries for 2015 please!
I for one would welcome a chance to vote for someone else, because my choices seem to be narrowing almost by the day, and there's no way I can vote for Dowd. But even more, I'd like the constituencies put back to what they were a few years ago, because I really see no point in having this stupid con...

Re: Garden waste collection
I'm missing the Garden Waste collection service at Girton Road. Anyone else? This is the Lewisham end, presumably? I'm missing Bromley's former one at Beckenham Junction, which at least meant that I could take the bag most of the way on the train. BTW, Bromley offer an elective green-waste service:...

Re: Co-Op down
Walking past there last night it looked like a total refit. The shelf orientation had all been rotated 90 degrees. It's looked a bit shabby for a while so this good they are investing in the store. I am so relieved to hear(?) you say that: I was in there the other day (haven't been there much since...

Re: Loud PA system
Clearly I seem to be the only person bothered by this, but I'm still bemused as to its location. When I was out the other day, I could have sworn that it was located somewhere in the block bounded by Sydenham High Street, Newlands Park and the two railways, but then I crossed the railway into Penge ...
