I would second Simon’s recommendation of Knighton Motors, I have nothing but reliable service from there. I’d be interested to know why you think that someone should work for you for free, do you often pop into an office/shop/factory and do a shift for the fun of it?

We had our 2 in Lewisham, and I think it is worth bearing in mind that whilst this is one of the most exciting things to happen to you and one of the most important days of your life etc, to the people in the hospital it is just another day in the office. They are all under pressure and usually shor...

Given that Morrisons sold the site to Somerfield, there is a Sainbury’s within walking distance and Waitrose is only a 5 min drive away – I guess that would make Asda the favourite.

Apart from the obvious benefit of providing us with more fresh air and exercise as we stroll up to Forest Hill to collect our undelivered post, does anyone know if this will affect the normal delivery rounds? At the moment post generally arrives promptly in the mornings, certainly better than for a ...

they've put a white line in front of their lowered curb that extends about 3 foot past the width of the drive on either side.
- Try reporting it to the council as graffiti and see if they remove it. In theory they should do.

WW. If you are one of the few who loads up with bags of shopping then feel justified in driving. Most people find it far more of a nuisance never to park near their house than the occasional walk to the high street, and according to the Living streets survey most people are socially responsible and ...

It is not the homeowners that cause the parking problems, the problem is getting parked during the day and not at night. It is people who drive rather than walk for 10 or 20 mins to the high street that are causing the problem. We live in SE London and there can barely be a house in the area that is...

It is a bit rich for the likes of Wispy Wonder to criticise people who pave over their gardens when they are the ones causing the problem in the first place. If the likes of WW used the free car park instead of parking outside people’s houses then there wouldn’t be the parking problem or the need to...

No I haven’t read it wrong, I realise that they are replacing an existing box. They have already replaced one outside Lidl and you will notice that they are considerably wider than a standard telephone box. There was a lot of talk at the previous high street consultation about returning the pavement...

Yet another new advert board for the high street.

Strange that when the high street is supposed to be undergoing a redevelopment to clear much of the clutter on the high street, that there is a new planning notice to put up yet another advertise board on the pavement. The details are at http://acolnet.lewisham.gov.uk/LEWIS-XSLPagesDC/acolnetcgi.exe...

"can't really make a formal complaint as I'm just the tenant and haven't spoken to my Landlord or the neighbours bothering me!" - They might not realise how noisy they are and a polite word might make life bearable for the next few months, so I'd try that first. If that doesn't work then c...

My vote for best new business on the high street goes to Cannon Golf (www.Cannongolf.co.uk) which has a golf simulator. You can play a round at St Andrews on a cold and wet November evening without leaving SE26. Far more interesting than a coffee shop or gastro pub.

A number of comments in this thread are from people who have not been in, so here are a couple of comments from someone who has been in there a few times now. Sydenham DIY (on the high street and close to Kirkdale roundabout) will do that for you. Not the cheapest place to get glass, but the most convenient and they have a reasonable choice of glass types.

I agree it is a confusing picture; but I trust that you would be able to use pre-pay to travel into London Bridge, but what about if you are going west/north via Clapham Junction or south/east via East Croydon/Norwood Junction? If you could use pre-pay how much would you pay? Not only are the rail p...

You can do a search on http://www.landregisteronline.gov.uk/ It costs £3 and they will tell you the name and address of the property owner.
