Re: Evening Standard not at Syd Station?

Forest Hill station had Standard's last week, but Sainsbury's didn't.

I believe the station distribution is handled by Menzies rather than the Standard themselves.

Re: Cash free buses

Regarding contactless debit/credit cards. Those with basic current accounts, those who normally just get a Visa card with no overdraft won't be getting them. This is due to the fact that those cards always have to have a live connection to the bank for transactions. These customers are more likely t...

Re: Freeview reception problems last night?

We've had HD since before digital switchover on Freeview.

What happened last week was the second stage of channel number changes where HD channels moved from the 50s to 100-104 and the 'Babestation' type ones moved to 170+

Boundary Commission constituency revision for Sydenham

The initial proposal was for a new constituency splitting Lewisham West and Penge between Beckenham to the south and a new seat covering Forest Hill and Sydenham with wards in Dulwich. The new proposals are for a new Lewisham South seat covering Forest Hill, Sydenham (LB Lewisham area only), Lower S...

Re: East London Line trains to Highbury start on Monday morn

Southern still provide the data and station announcements for London Overground stations south of New Cross Gate as part of a contract. Best to complain to London Overground, who may instruct Southern to abbreviate Islington like on the boards from Surrey Quays up to H&I to bring the 2nd and 3rd...

Re: Greyhound to be run by owners of East Dulwich Tavern, et

Glad to see the article in the OP link refer to 'Cobb's Corner' as opposed to 'Kirkdale Corner' as announced on buses' PA systems now. The buses don't even mention any reference to the corner, the bus stops at Cobbs are now called the generic "Sydenham Station - Kirkdale" on the 122, 176 ...

Re: ELL service to Highbury and Islington starts next month

The Jubilee seems to be getting worse with every week. First day back at work in January and it wasn't working, 2nd week back on a Monday Canada Water was closed for "overcrowding" and today I finally managed to get on a train on a Monday, but with severe delays and being crammed in like a...

Re: How's the commute?

Crossrail should relieve the pressure off the Jubilee for passengers going west at least. I'll probably use the ELL to Whitechapel and then Crossrail to Bond Street to go to Oxford St for example.

In addition there are two extra trains leaving New Cross Gate for London Bridge during the Mon-Sat off-peak, so you may be able to use the Overground to connect with those services if you miss our stopping services. In addition, there is a later Overground service for New Cross Gate which connects w...

I can't see why the Money Shop won't get approval, there are numerous similar businesses across the borough despite their dubious ways of making money.

It's bad enough Lewisham has Brighthouse where low income familes can buy goods at inflated APR.

The Money Shop normally set up in areas of low income where they offer loan services such as cashing cheques and emergency loans.

The Credit Union is a much better way of obtaining a loan if you happen to be in low-paid work or benefits.

The self service machines have been since late January (3 weeks after PAYG was accepted at the stations), but not the ticket office.
