Re: Sydenham Road traffic

Whether you are a driver, a pedestrian, or a business on Sydenham Road, the current state is unpleasant and bad for all in my view. I agree that re-examining the phasing of the lights at Mayow/Sydenham Road corner and the crossing outsidthe bookshop might help things flow a lot better and I will be ...

Re: Sydenham Road traffic

To be honest, I don't drive that much, two or three times a week, short trips. Well, they used to be short trips. :-/ I'm just more depressed by the fact that, for years we've wanted investment on the high street and now we've had it and the net result makes it worse in a lot of ways. The high stree...

Sydenham Road traffic

So how are we all loving the all new and improved Sydenham Road? I live at the Mayow Road end of Earlsthorpe and since the new traffic lits etc, Mayow Road is now constantly log jammed back up to bishopsthorpe - something that never used to happen and now it's every day. Then there's the fun of tryi...

So, how do we find out if this is actually happening or not?

Re: Road *!@!! works!

I got this in response to an email I sent yesterday. Four more weeks, apparently. Thank you for your e-mail dated 29/09/10 , I am sorry to learn that you have had cause to complain regarding our gas essential gas replacement works in Sydenham Road & Perry Vale. These projects are part of SGN’s o...

Small namedrop alert: I have actually discussed this with Kelly Brook. I don't think it's true about Billy but I think it was when she was with Jason Statham and I think they lived together. I know she lived in Sydenham. She told me she loved The Hilltop Cafe and used to go there all the time. I als...

Yes, were it not for the quick reflexes of a fellow commuter, I would have been under a train on the day before Christmas Eve (ironically on a journey in to sort out my will!). I am a known clutz, in fairness, but it struck me that there had been no attempt to clear the thick ice that had built up r...

Thanks for that admin, as my husband has not stopped telling me I should have got the train. At least I know I probably would not have fared better. The slide down Dog Kennel Hill was an experience I hope to never repeat. The one gritter I saw in five hours did the opposite side of that road.

Traffic last night

Last night, it took me five hours to drive from Piccadilly to lower Sydenham. I need to know, is that last night's record? And if it's not, you have my sympathies!

Interesting to read someone's good experience of the Dartmouth Road dental practice. My experience there was not good at all. I needed my two year old's teeth looking at. She was at that stage, so painfully shy, and I explained this to them as best I could. The guy who saw us made it quite clear he ...

Call it what you want, I say, but perhaps put some effort into making it look less like the crack den it does now? Even if it was called Sydenham Crack Den, it wouldn't be so bad if just didn't look so horrible.

I went in for a pedicure a few days ago and they did a really good job. I hadn't realised that there was more to it than nails, so it was a good discovery and one I will take advantage of. Very nice people, nice atmosphere in there.

I'm with Sophie, Lokal was amazing - and always busy! It was often really hard to get a table in there. They can't have shut shop because of economics? Something like that, or a Thai, would be amazing.

Thanks so much for this, Janeco. I've never heard anything but good things about the school, but it's always better to have a personal recommendation. It's one of the ones we're weighing up, and well, they're of course weighing us up too!

I wasn't even really thinking about the money side of things, to be honest. It was more that I had a whingey child in the background who is a battle and a half at every meal time, I think it was quite clearly a frantic scene and she wants to know if I'd like to pause to read her book. Sadly I never ...
