Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic

A lot has already been said but this is nonsense. Why are the Council looking after the interests of a privileged few and ensuring that most suffer and make the high street even less attractive. If the council really want to reduce the volume of traffic, put in a CPZ round all the local stations so ...

Re: Fatal Accident Outside Catford Station

As someone who commutes to work most days, rain or shine, I assume every driver on the road has not seen me despite the lights and bright reflecive clothing. I also assume they will cut me up and not look in their mirrors, cut into bus and cycle lanes etc. I never overtake anything on the inside and...

Re: Gulls are arriving

We feed the birds and have a huge varierty, gold finches, starlings, woodpeckers, collared doves, wood pigeon, blue and great tits, blackbirds, robins, magpies, jays and dunnocks plus visits from the paraquuets. Not bad in an inner city pocket hankerchief garden. It is so important to encorage bio d...

Rode past on my bike. Looks like a van was turning up Wells Park Road and hit a moped. Looked a very big collision.

Re: Big crash outside station - Sydenham road closed

The other please that is particularly dangerous is the roundabout at the bottom of Kirkdale/Westwood Hill. The number of people that come straight up Sydenham Road at speed and do not stop at the roundabout is huge. Anyone coming out of Spring Hill is taking their life in their hands. Similarly tryi...

Are they building the conservatory? I think it would be a great addition if they did. Still look forward to a good pint in my new local.

Re: Roadworks Crystal Palace/Fountain Drive/Westwood Hill

As a cyclist who often uses this route on the way to work, up Westow Hill and down Fountain Drive this road layout looks awful. It isn't actually that bad if you are a sensible cyclist and if you commute in London by bike you have to learn to be. From my point of view I would never use the outside l...

Greyhound Guerilla Gardening

My wife and I have become heartily sick of watching the lovely trees planted outside the Greyhound begin to die of neglect and the soil round them become full of weeds and litter. So we have done a bit of guerilla gardening and have cleared all the weeds and given the trees some much needed water. W...

Re: RIP LA Fitness

As a former member of LA fitness currently using Forest Hill Pools I am inot in a bad position to comment here. I did not bother with the pool at LA fitness as, as a reasonable swimmer I had reached the end in about 2 strokes. The whole wet side was dingy and felt a bit dirty as well. No loss I am a...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Intersting how so many people have been so keen for Antic pubs to take over the building. Great pubs, great beer but without doubt a chain, a growing one and although London based no longer even that local. t is about quality and if a chain can provide quality along with certainty of investment alon...

I see that the planning permission for the side extension and rear staricase has just been granted. The extension looks really tasteful and will hopefully create a more useable space for a future tenant.

Major Disturbance Cobbs Corner

Anyone know what was going on at Cobbs Corner this evening. Loads of young people shouting and fighting with the police in mass attendance. Lots of flash cars going round and round the round about as well.
Do we know where all the young people came from and what caused the problem?

Virgin Media

Are others having a problem with Virgin Media. I am using my 4G phone tethered to my lap top most of the time to get any effective internet speed. This has been happening on and off for weeks. I assume they have simply overused the capacity of the network. We virtually never use the landline, the in...

Re: KIRKDALE HIGH STREET CONSULTATION

I would agree with HB. This scheme is an absolute disaster for cyclists. This in a major route for people commuting to London and the narrowing of the road whilst providing inset parking bays is a sure fire way of increasing the number of people knocked off their bikes. Going up the hill will more h...

Re: Updating parking standards?

For anyone that was involved at the time this is the parking area behind the flats build as part of the wider redevelopment of the Greyhound site. As I recall for the 44 or so flats only 3 disabled spaces were provided with the balance being for the commercial units that will hopefully open at some ...

Re: Zanzibar withdraws appeal

Well how long did that take. It is 4,30 in the morning and for the last hour I have been kept awake by the patrons of the Zanzibar having a party in the street. I thought it shut at 2? The owners have their license but the business model of making their neighbours life hell continues. But now the th...

Re: Are Hall Drive signs legal.

Hall Drive is private land and therefore normal highways rules do not apply. The changes in the law that took effect in October 2012 simply meant that the clamping of vehicles became illegal to prevent the abuse of some contractors and land owners. However a system of civil ticketing is allowed whic...

This is clearly an organisation which doesn't care what people think. Since the last public meeting which the manager attended things have got worse not better. Re: Japanese Knotweed, anyone?

Just a quick word to say that any waste from these plants can only be disposed on in controlled sites. A single piece of live material will grow into new plants. Consult the council before dumping any waste at all and you can be prosecuted if you do not
