Re: when the train to Victoria is cancelled...

Surely quickest it to pop down to penge east (10 mins by foot) and catch the train directly to Victoria in 17 mins.

New pop up looks great. How wonderful to no longer see a boarded up shop. I met Louise who seems to be working tirelessly with her team. Well done.

Re: Decent Hairdressers in Sydenham

I had my hair cut by Lauren at MasterCutters this past weekend. It was at least as good as the hair cuts I used to get in Covent Garden and half the price.

Crystal Palace One o'clock Club Petition

I don't know the details but saw elsewhere that Mytime Active are planning to tender The Crystal Palace One O'Clock Club.
There's a petition against it here:

Great local tiler

Hi all,

I've just had some tiling work done by a local tiler, Toby Guest. He was recommended by Topps Tiles in Penge and he did a brilliant job in our kitchen. Great attention to detail, which is what you want from a tiler!

His number is: 0777 498 4040.

Re: Foxtots Babies and Toddler Music Group

I went to a session today and it was brilliant. A great mix of familiar and original songs, puppets and live instruments for the tots to try. Rosie and Ben are lovely and it really was great fun and different from other groups in the area. I highly recommend going along. [ Post made via Mobile Devic...

Re: Conquer's Wardrobe Pop Up Shop, Station Approach

I was down there today and it has some lovely clothes and accessories. And the two of them are lovely people. I have to say, it's the first time I have bought clothes in Sydenham. Have a look- sadly they will only be there until Christmas. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://sydenham.org.uk/mobil...

White Mothercare Hyde Crib and Mattress

I have a white Mothercare Hyde crib and quality mattress for sale - originally £70 for both. Hardly used so in good shape.

20 pounds for both or make me an offer.

Send me a PM, please.

Re: New to Sydenham - street questions

Another vote for. In terms of security, if you're walking down from Sydenham station, there are late opening shops and pubs evenly spaced out along the way so you're not really walking anywhere isolated. As you say, it's London so you have to have your wits about you, like you would anywhere. There ...

New Coffee Bar at Penge East Station

Something to look forward to on the morning commute: Sheriff's coffee, a new coffee bar has opened at Penge East station. It's run by Lee Sheriff and is open Mon-Fri from 6am to 12 noon and Saturdays from 8am to 12 noon. The coffee is great, fairtrade and Lee is a lovely guy. I wish him luck. (And b...

Re: Childcare Agencies - Help the Admin please

Actually, I had a look at their website, assuming you're referring to South East London Nannies, and gave them a ring. It's not spam. Gemma seems genuine and knowledgeable enough. I haven't met her in person but based on that, I'd say she placed the add in the wrong section, is all.

Re: NEW OPENINGS, NEW CLOSINGS

Their stock was incredibly expensive and not very attractive so not a surprise. I've found great vintage stuff at Sydenham Beds - G Plan chests of drawers and the like for a fraction of the price you'd pay elsewhere.

Re: Best letting agent?

I didn't actually end up using them myself but I was looking into using an online letting agent and spoke to the guys at Upad who seemed very professional and sensible. They have range of fixed price options and their rates are a lot lower than their high street colleagues. http://www.upad.co.uk/ Th...

Re: Gorgeous new garden centre in Parish Lane

It's by the railway bridge (Penge East), in the Estate House. They are open Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30 to 5.30 and Sundays and Bank Holidays from 10 to 4.00. There is parking around there (but not on site) but they also offer free local delivery. Their website will be live soon - alexandranurseri...

Gorgeous new garden centre in Parish Lane

Re: NEW OPENINGS, NEW CLOSINGS

I walked by the old Premier Snack bar this evening and there were shopfitters working away. Anyone have any idea what's opening up there? At the moment it looks light and neutral.

It can't be a hair salon, surely, since it's right next door to one...

I'm starting to look into it - I think it would be great. If anyone's interested in getting involved, please send me a PM. I know some people were investigating options last year. Ben Chef - will you have a chat with your contacts up in King's Cross?
