Thanks all for your quick responses. I haven't visited Sydenham since I left there in the 1954 to join the Army, then lived in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire until moving to Victoria, Australia a couple of years ago. Just brushing up on the family tree. Best Regards. Chas

The Bell Pub

Where was the Bell Pub in Sydenham. I believe it was in Lower Sydenham somewhere near Southend Lane or Bell Green. There were some shops across the road and one was a pet shop. Is there a photo of that era available anywhere? Thanks. Chas

My grandmother lived at 33 Stanton Square from 1940 until she died in 1959. Her name before marriage was Kate Victoria Friend. She married my grandfather, Charles Edward Johnson who got killed in WW! at Ypres in 1916. She married Samuel Charles Kells who died in 1940 and she then married for the thi...

Before we were evacuated my sisters and I lived over the pet shop in southend lane ( or was it Bell Green) just over the road from the Gasworks. Does anyone remember the pet shop. I think there were a row of shops. All long demolished, of course. Are there any photos in existance that I can get a co...
