Re: School advice - 2016 intake

Yes, we will be visiting all the schools I mentioned in my original post, plus others suggested by people here. We have already been to some school fêtes. Our main issue is that we are not in the catchment area for any of these schools, so I was wondering whether anyone had been successful in gainin...

Re: School advice - 2016 intake

Thank you for your reply. Yes, we are considering St John's, but I hadn't looked at Harris Crystal Palace, so will do so. As we aren't in catchment for any of these schools I am hoping that we might be lucky if one or other of them takes in an extra class. Bromley's education department advised us t...

School advice - 2016 intake

My son will be starting in reception next September. We live on Wiverton Road, and as far as I can seem we are not in catchment for any local schools! We are going to visit St Barts, Kelvin Grove, Alexandra Infants (as the junior site is our closest), Eliot Bank (even though we will never get in!), ...

Late Knights..coming soon?

Late Knights posted a message on twitter last night about a possible new bar.
I don't know how to insert attachments, so can't include the message, but they say it's a small space with a garden, and could be open in a few months!

Re: On the Hoof Bistro

It seems a shame to join a forum specifically to criticise a new business just getting off the ground, however I don't know the whole story. I haven't eaten there yet as I have a new baby, but everyone I know who has eaten there has been positive. It is a very attractive addition to the high street ...

Re: Christmas shopping - local ideas

Alexandra Nurseries have some lovely homewares in stock now. Their Christmas market is on the weekend of 6/7 December. Late Knights have opened a brewery shop too, though I'm not sure of the address. In Crystal Palace, worth mentioning are Papagaio, a lovely toy shop which has just about everything ...

Montessori schools locally

I am looking at various Montessori pre-schools for my son. If you have any experience of the following: Cator Park, Rose House, Dulwich or Dulwich Oaks I'd be pleased to hear from you, either here or by pm. Thank you.

Re: Meanwhile in Penge

That's interesting, I hadn't realised that they have considered other Sydenham venues. Hopefully something suitable will come up soon.

Where is the old post office building?

I also went today, with my brats. It was great to see it busy. We were impressed with the decor, food and prices. A lovely lovely addition to Sydenham.

On the Hoof should be opening soon? Last update was for 9 August..

This sounds great - best of luck!

Sadly I won't be able to drink wine in the evening for some time as I have a newborn. Will I be able to squeeze in with a pushchair during the day?

Re: Where's my cherry blossom tree

We are in Wiverton Road (part Lewisham, part Bromley Council), and have lost 4 trees in the past 18 months. I was told by someone at Bromley that, due to budget constraints, the council were not currently replacing trees but may do so in the future. He mentioned that residents associations could org...
