Re: Barratt Homes / gasholders site: make your comments NOW!
I heard there were a lot of problems with the application and there is supposed to be a meeting with the developers at some point. I wouldn't expect a decision for a while. It may have to go back to the drawing board.

Re: Lewisham's mayoral by-election
I have never voted Tory and I don't think I'll start now. She says in the article she's going to remove fencing around playgrounds. Which I presume will result in children wandering off and dogs wandering in... Not much thought as to why playgrounds have fences at all... I can't vote Labour, because...

Re: Planning permission?
I don't believe planning permission is required if you are not in a conservation area and there is no article 4 direction removing permitted development. I would imagine that extends to the windows too. As long as they are the same size/ appearance. An entirely new window opening would require plann...

Re: Barratt Homes / gasholders site: make your comments NOW!
I think he's arguing against car free developments. The issue here is that the area has quite poor transport links (for an inner London borough). The stations are all a fair walk away and the lines don't transport east and west very effectively. Bus capacity is restricted by the railway line and low...

Re: Bell Green Cycle Crossing
Heroic would be disabling the cameras, ideally in a subtle way. Spray paint, cutting cables.
Taking out pedestrian crossing points outside a school, leaving the traffic light blocking the pavement, just seems a bit 'look at me' tbh.

Re: Broken window theory
Had something similar near me. It was Anglian building a conservatory and using the road and pavement to dump the soil they'd dug out. It was collected by a grabber lorry. Reckon similar here, especially because of the warning cones. Illegal, but hard to get the council to react quickly enough to ca...

Livesey Hall War Memorial added to 'at risk' register
Today, Historic England added the war memorial outside the Livesey Hall to their 'Heritage at risk' list. https://historicengland.org.uk/advice/heritage-at-risk/search-register/list-entry/405981 The plaques have been stolen, replaced with plastic. The plastic replacements have faded (by sun or clean...

Re: Broken window theory
Hi b_s - I've invested in a £2.99 picker-upper from the Sydenham Road Bargain Shop. Doesn't look too robust but it helped me do our street today. Thanks for inspiring me. Maybe the Sydenham Assembly should give a proper one plus Lewisham bags to folks who will do their street once a week. So anothe...

Re: Broken window theory
The blue bags are poundland issue.
£2 for a roll of 18!
They are very good at collecting them, although it helps if it's somewhere where they can stop the wagon safely. I usually leave them by a bin or in one of the places where they pile the Lewisham blue bags, Or I just add to the pile.

Re: Broken window theory
Nice to see this message. I've been reporting flytipping and assorted stuff for years. Now using Love Clean Streets app, which seems to be the council's latest favourite. Flytips seem to be cleared quickly. Other things are a bit slower. Managed to get some yellow lines repainted too. First lot took...

Another thought. Police may not come out for noise, but they will for drugs, knives, aggressive behaviour etc...
So make sure you press the right buttons when calling.
