No, its not going to be a beauty place - the Hempire people are apparently re-launching there.

The barman of the Two Halve's told me.

Apparently they think its funny to set up in a chemists shop i.e. where drugs were dispensed.

Agree, don't use SaD of Penge. They hung my doors incorrectly. To be fair, they came back and sorted it out, but still, it was a pain. It's not rocket science, if I wanted a bodge up I would have done it myself! I prob wouldn't have bothered to advise against them except that I see that many others ...

It's probably been done before but I too always wondered where Upper, Lower and plain old Sydenham are considered to begin and end?

In what sense was he 'the uxorious Edward C. Christmas' ?

Did Mrs Christmas rule the roost?

or was he just plain soppy about the old girl?

Re: Venner road

[edited by me to remove some comments that were a bit sarcastic] In most residential roads around Sydenham and on the high street, where people are crossing all over the place because of crap crossings, 20mph is often the 'suitable' speed to drive at, despite what some selfish drivers may think. So...

Inciting a campaign to deliberately drive at or below 20 mph, without official sanction, is highly irresponsible and could lead to more accidents, not less. It seems to me to be a form of passive aggression, which is bound to provoke other road users to acts of reckless overtaking, tailgating and ro...

You could have a 10 mph speed limit and it won't make any difference.

Many drivers are already breaking the 30mph limit so reducing it to 20 is not going to help unless it is enforced, which it won't be to any large degree.

There would be no point.

Rule #1 of ST Forum:

"All threads must eventually include an irrelevant reference to class distinctions, and subsequently get completely bogged down in pointless arguing about same".

Great news about the Greyhound. Hope the owners can find a way to retain the pub and keep us all happy.

Oh yes that's right they have always been here but up to now they didn't have the guts to show their faces.

The dirty, evil, cappuccino-drinking, 3-wheel-buggy-pushing, filthy evil b******s!

Angela, best wishes with your magazine.

Could you satisfy my curiosity please and tell us why you chose to expand into Sydenham next, rather than any other local areas?

Nasaroc, would you care to define 'locals' in this context?

Not sure how Lambchop's nationality bears on his right to comment on something happening in the neighbourhood in which he lives.

Just as long as you are aware of the actual (not theoretical ) postcode and name of the area. I still think its naughty of them to call it Sydenham if its SE6 and in Catford. And yes, I think it will be cheaper than the average properties which ARE in Sydenham, although at the borderline roads it pr...

On a point of information:

Are you sure that's in Sydenham?

Isn't it SE6?

Is that Catford?

(I stand to be corrected here!)

Fantastic news! What a great result that will be for the area. Well done Pat, Michael and everyone who campaigned on this. Also, fair play to everyone who signed the petition - its a small effort but well done to those who took the time. Let's keep the momentum going! Maybe we should all make a poin...

I may be wrong but I think the OP was probably looking more for a sympathetic response as well as more info about the reasons for the delays, not for exhortations to have a bracing walk - cause that's just even more annoying! I'm sure it was a real pain hanging round waiting for a bus that never cam...
