Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order

Absolutely hilarious to see that @RC_Southwark have just blocked me on twitter. I’d be grateful if any posts they make about the OLSPN situation could be screenshot (or transcribed), and posted here. Talk about godly behaviour… An unnecessary remark. Um, what is wrong about saying I've been blocked...

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order

Hi gemslow, welcome to the forum. I am sure that Global Thinker simply misspoke, as we all know it is an infant and a junior school that have been brought together onto the one site, with the other sold. Sadly, as the Inspector's report shows, the real source of misinformation has been the Archdioce...

Re: Lidl relocation plans?

I agree, that would make sense, but Bishops are totally entitled to not be pushed out of the way! If they want to sell their space, though, now's the time to do it. I understood that the gym space is a lot larger than the shop ever used, due to the state of the roof. Such a large first floor, though...

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order

Sadly, despite receiving £4m funding from Lewisham, the Archdiocese elected to use an outside building control company provided by the builders, and Lewisham planning and building control were denied access to the site. 'Demolition' is the ultimate sanction, but isn't necessarily literal. The Archdi...

Lidl relocation plans?

Just an aspiration, as yet. Lidl are on the lookout for a new site. Great timing, now the gym has taken over Safeways / Co-op / Morrisons........

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order

I have gone over the ruling, and my (totally non-expert) observations are, that this is really bad news for the Archdiocese. If you delete from the enforcement notice all the text the Inspector says, they are left with the bald statement that they must make the building conform to the original plans...

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order

Good news I hope. Where do we go from here JRW? Stuart The ball is definitely in the Archdiocese's court, as it depends on whether they take this decision to the High Court. Personally, I am sure they will, and this will mean more delays for everybody. I haven't posted any quotes, as I'm not a lawy...

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order

The Planning Inspector has dismissed both appeals by the Archdiocese of Southwark, against enforcement by Lewisham Council. The full report is available on the Lewisham planning website, search for DC/19/111793.

Re: 5G Nimby-ism?

For me, it's all about the street clutter. You get at least 3, and often 4 tatty metal boxes installed next to the mast. The companies could make a small investment in developing a better designed, more space efficient cabinet, which could be shared between networks. I presume the number of cabinets...

Re: Bell Green Neighbourhood Forum proposals...

Brilliant, glad to be in contact. If you get canvassed, and get to speak to any of the elections candidates, ask them where they stand on this. Getting councillors onside is vital, as working across three wards needs cooperation from everybody.

Re: Bell Green Neighbourhood Forum proposals...

Brilliant to hear from you! Bell Green retail park is in Bellingham Ward; it was historically Sydenham, formerly East Sydenham Ward. You can see the ward boundaries via the Lewisham Council website, but please note that they are about to change again slightly; this happens regularly when the (nation...

Thanks, mikej and Matthew. I'd love to get more people's responses, to be put forward to our councillors. Please do make any suggestions of tweaks and improvements to my suggested boundary. Don't be shy!

Re: Who's standing in the Sydenham by election in May?

Hi Jack, Across Lewisham, amenity societies have expressed concerns about the state of planning consultantions, as they have been problematic for many years now. Would you expect societies to publicly represent local concerns, or would you encourage them to stay quiet, and be loyal to the one-party ...

Bell Green Neighbourhood Forum proposals...

[I'd be grateful if someone could copy the map over from SE26.life, as I can't do it myself.] The Bell Green neighbourhood forum launch has been beset with people dragging their feet, so I thought I’d post my own draft boundaries. The decision to actually open the forum would be after a full democra...

Re: Lewisham planning 400 flats for Sydenham Road

All very true, JGD. Sadly, that deadline passing also means that we also miss the opportunity to contribute to the Lewisham Plan. Sigh. I have posted on SE26.life my own proposal for the area boundaries. The general shape is approved by Councillors, but Liam expressed concerns about the SW sector, a...

Re: Lewisham planning 400 flats for Sydenham Road

I'm not against some carefully chosen shops being converted to residential, although I agree that many would only make dark, oppressive bedsits. For me, the important thing is that any such changes are considered in a strategic way. Having decisions being made on a shop-by-shop basis will lead to co...
