Re: New houses
And the public transport needs a serious rethink given the volume of plans for new car-less developments on Mayow. Car clubs could be start towards making it work?
Re: Mad Dough
Say the name out loud, and it is quite unlike Mamma Dough. Can't see the problem really. I agree with a lot of what has been said, and it is a very, very cramped site. However, I think they have a good chance, given their opening hours. They are opening at 8am, and will do very well on the coffee an...

Re: Petition. Lewisham isn't working: end the directly-elected mayoral system now
Proportional representation would be the best possible outcome, but I don't know the law for councils. Funnily enough, the Mayor himself claims to be a fan of proportional representation; perhaps we should ask him to look into the possibility.....

Re: Petition. Lewisham isn't working: end the directly-elected mayoral system now
It would return to votes after proper discussion at committees, involving larger numbers of councillors. Harder to stage than now, where everything is sorted behind closed doors, then quickly rubber-stamped at the Mayor and cabinet meeting. A long agenda there can be waved through in 30 min. No sign...

Re: OLSPN
Well, that is a bit dishonest, Growsydenham. You have presented that as the complete answer, which I have pasted below for comparison. A supplementary question brought stronger comments from the Mayor, but for some reason, Lewisham Council doesn't minute supplementaries. PUBLIC QUESTION NO 54. Prior...

Re: Forest Hill Pools
The problem seems to be that if the contract is cancelled, the council doesn't have the capacity to take the sports centre management in house, and can't find another company to contract at the same price. Whatever they decide on is going to be expensive, so as usual, Lewisham Council is dithering. ...

Re: Forest Hill Pools
Lewisham locked us into a 15 year contract in 2011 with Fusion. They are a charity, and woefully miscalculated their bid, so are operating at a loss on this contract. Lewisham keep fining Fusion for being rubbish, which puts them in an even worse position. Meanwhile, councillors tetch loudly, but do...

Re: Sticky: NEW! Events calendar
I couldn't agree more. The meeting was organised by Lewisham, who failed to notify more than a handful of very recent commenters, at extremely short notice. The date was fixed a week before, but the developers declined to post notices provided by Lewisham for their neighbours, although it was public...

Re: OLSPN: Urgent deadline for comments on St Philip Neri school redevelopment
Planning are processing comments first thing Monday, which is the deadline. Comments should be in by 9am Monday, to be sure of consideration. However, if you miss this deadline, it is still worth sending a comment in, as Lewisham may be lenient, given the problems with the planning portal. No guaran...

Re: OLSPN: Urgent deadline for comments on St Philip Neri school redevelopment
The old school buildings are supposed to have had asbestos within the structure, and no documentation of its safe removal has been registered, as required by planning. Yes, a school was already operating on site, but the redevelopment has involved deep excavations and major earth movements, undertak...

Historical fact. Check it out. Condition of development was an ordnance expert to supervise at the excavation phase. Feel free to check the paperwork before scoffing.
