Re: Massage therapist in Sydenham
I recently went to LA Fitness in Kirkdale and had a massage with Susan, cannot remember her surname. Very good, she does various sports and other massages and i thought also very reasonably priced. You dont have to be a member either to go.

Re: SYDENHAM'S ROOM 102
Good idea, something positive....makes a change from the usual downers on this site. i would suggest: 1. growing number of small independent shops like the Kirkdale Bookshop, DIY Shop, Alhambra and bakery on Kirkdale (very good and reasonably priced as well), Penge supermarket 2. Good bus and train ...

Re: Thinking of moving to Halifax Street but worried about c
I live in Halifax Street and its a great little street, good community atmosphere and very quaint. I know Wells Park Rd well, i often have to park the car down it and generally, yes it has its problems but doesnt alot of areas (earlier posting about the drinkers down the High Street for one). I pers...

Re: Street/Area names
The road Halifax Street used to be called Hannover STreet and this was changed at the first world war, as it sounded too Germanic. I have always wanted to know why Halifax Street was chosen?

Re: LA Fitness
Hi. I have been a member of LA Fitness for a number of years and also tried the Crystal Palace sports centre as well. LA Fitness is ok. The gym is ok but the pool is only 17m long, and is crowded when 3 people are in it. But i like it as its convenient, and also its not packed (you just get to know ...

Re: Wells Park Rd Police Corden
Yes i mean the old Fox and Hounds however when they refurbished it a few years back, they renamed it just to the Foxes; not sure why, but i agree, i hate it when they rename pubs to make them 'more trendy'!

Wells Park Rd Police Corden
Does any one know why the small narrow path behind the Foxes public house on Wells Park Rd has been cordoned off by the police with a policeman manning the entrance?

Re: 2 muggings at knife point in Silverdale
Really sorry to hear about the mugging, what an awlful experience.
However, i dont understand why a description cannot be provided, and why admin has taken such a hard line to this? How else are we to either catch the culprits or atleast be aware?

Re: Newlands Park Murder?
What an absolutely dreadful waste of life. It makes me so sad to hear about this, and so close to home. I must drive down Newlands every week, and often use the station at night. The death penalty arguements are irrelevent...if kids nowadays were brought up to respect each other more, and taught rig...

Is there anyway of updating the front page of the Sydenham Forum? Everytime i open my link to this site, it tells me (and includes a picture of) Tim Lund is retiring as the Sydenham Soc chairman. Much as i am sure Tim is an esteemed local celeb to lots of people, it would be nice if we had something...

Re: Attempted Burglary alert
Thanks for the warning and glad you managed to scare them off. Any chance of knowing what road your in? I live in Halifax Street and about 4 years ago, we had a string of burglaries in the week before christmas, including my own house, where i had the unfortunate experience of walking into my house ...

Maybe you should speak to an architect, they should be able to give you some ideas and solutions. The RIBA will be able to advise on a local one, and your be surprised it may not cost as you think!

I have no other way of finding out about local news, nice or nasty, so appreciate the info on these websites....

As pretty much a floating voter, who has voted for all the major parties over time, and also some of the minor ones....i cannot understand why anyone would want to demolish democracy by providing a system where one party will not be able to gain power (as stated by Juwlz). In 1997, the country is fe...

I think the notion of National Service is abit out of date in terms of militaristic point of view...however, why can't it be brought in as a more civil version. i.e. every 16year old, or similar age group, has to carry out voluntary work for 2 weeks a year, helping disabled people; the older generat...
