We have one of those: it's called "line of sight" :)
Love it.

I have too - if I get a thirty foot ladder out, climb up onto my highest chimney and stand on one leg.

Re: Freeview reception problems?

Transmission bands in the UK were "cleared out" somewhat starting over two years ago to accommodate 5G. The Freeview bods restructured their bands and decreed that older forms of external aerials were no longer technically suited for the job of receiving the re-organised bands and offered free aeria...

Re: Lockdown Easement: WHO warn the worst is yet to come

I think our poor opinions on the Daily Mail are pretty much in step collectively. It is always interesting to see that the scope of their news coverage and the journalism behind it is very broad. In my view it is the editorialising of every piece to include a significant and constant thread of divis...

Re: Lockdown Easement: WHO warn the worst is yet to come

Thank you for the DM thing - I got it about that rag when I was a boy, just after I realised what the DT was. Other European countries seem to be coping with local lock downs, the country cannot shut down for ever otherwise we go bankrupt We need to be able to live with this virus as we have in the ...

Lockdown Easement: WHO warn the worst is yet to come

The Daily Mail reports that of the 36 areas where Covid-19 cases are RISING, 15 are in London Boroughs, all this as Leicester becomes the first place in the UK to be locked down once more after a local flare-up has been identified there. Of these 15, Wandsworth would appear to be closest geographica...

Re: Freeview reception problems?

Changes to channels which need a TV retune are unlikely to affect reception. I'm not sure a directional app would help either given we know where the transmitter is next door, because I found that one small flat panel aerial randomly placed worked straight away for all channels, yet in another room...

Re: Freeview reception problems?

Should also have mentioned this. I use a free app called "Find Antenna" for iOS that has a compass-style direction finder that points precisely to transmitters. I am unsure whether there is an Android equivalent. It's excellent at ensuring aerials of all types are aligned accurately to the correct t...

Re: The Censor in RTW Speaks Again

These facts just make me wonder how unique Chris is. Has anyone who in in touch with what happens in other areas aware of anyone else like him, doing what he does? I'm very aware of what happens in Oxford, and there is nothing comparable there Tim - some very astute observations. This I suspect is ...

Re: The Censor in RTW Speaks Again

Not that I know of. With further responses you may not expect and that only some people may be aware of. It is not a forum war. This thread is generated by the overly intrusive actions of an individual with an aggressive and predatory behaviour pattern who normally selects his targets by his assessm...

I for one did NOT know that.

Key information and a good basis, perhaps, for never paying one of these money extraction notices.

Thank you.

Re: The Censor in RTW Speaks Again

Astonishingly, despite having confessed to fabricating the entire back-drop to this story and creating a sock-puppet in a mea-culpa post in his beloved forum, the RTW guy posts this today. It is beyond his grasp it would seem, that people saw his confession and remember him revealing he had lied abo...

Re: The Censor in RTW Speaks Again

Good post Nic. In my defence, your honour, I did say only "some" were excellent. Also, in my defence, I was a little lazy and did not follow the link to what OakR actually said. Having now read it it is a meander through the land of what-iffery that is both an appallingly bad and inconsequential cri...

Re: The Censor in RTW Speaks Again

It is always meaningful to be in a position to offer balance and transparency. Two forums, two recent posts I think we can all agree there is some pretty reprehensible, inaccurate and personally-targeted posting on STF (especially in the appropriately-named “Asylum” category). But luckily we have an...

Apologies - I did not get the pictures of any signs - but then I did not see any prominently displayed. Not to say that there is none present.

Both EUSSR and Nic make excellent points.

Re: The Censor in RTW Speaks Again

Go look soon - he is losing the debate to more balanced and reasoned views. He will relocate it in Politics to hide it away. So Saturday morning's activities include a censorious flourish of deletions and splitting and moving of posts to hide the transgressions of the forums owner. He has successfu...

Re: The Censor in RTW Speaks Again

I don’t like this massive piece of graffiti, featuring a lot of angry and threatening looking men, protesting an injustice that happened decades ago, thousands of miles away I think the art only inflames racial tension, and takes race relations backwards rather than forwards. The U.K. police are ve...

Re: Freeview reception problems?

There were some significant changes on a number of channels on Freeview on the 22 June 2020.

It requires ALL devices that do not have an automated retune option to be retuned manually.

It may not be the source of signal problems you are encountering, but the retune may help.

Re: Bell Green car park

It is recommended that you check what has been stuck on your car. Is it a Parking Charge Notice vs a Penalty Charge Notice. Fundamentally, only councils have the power to issue lawful parking fines – or Penalty Charge Notices. These powers are vested in councils by legislation passed by Parliament a...

Re: Royal Mail to stop Saturday deliveries

It has been announced that Royal Mail are to make 2,000 people redundant. Despite actions earlier this month to dispense with the services of their oft-times absent CEO, the rationalisation plans proceed apace. Regrettably it happens under the cover of the pandemic crisis. Are these redundancies rea...
