Re: Trees in Lewisham

Lewisham Council's care of the local street and park trees has been cut to the point that some are put at risk. . Cannot speak to the overall degree to which tree care programmes may have been cut back. But it is not wholesale. We sitll can observe effective pollarding being carried out in many loc...

Re: Penge Homebase closed - now Bunnings warehouse

Homebase has been sold by Wesfarmers for just £1.

Homebase currently employs 11,500 people in 251 stores and is being bought by the restructuring specialist, Hilco.

Only 24 stores were rebranded Bunnings by Wesfarmers but the turnaround failed.

Re: My spooky followers on Twitter

Fascinating. And one should not assume that these trolls are data miners operating on faraway shores. I have seen reports about local code cutters being very concerned about their preparations to ensure they meet the requirements of the new General Data Protection Regulations 2016 (GDPR) with respec...

Re: Lewisham Election Results

We might argue to doomsday about the absence of checks and balances in our last and this new council of elected members and on the potential impact on how we might judge individual members and the council as a whole on how well - or badly - they perform. In other places the word hegemony has been ap...

Re: Been to The Greyhound yet?

Am I mis-reading the Timeout piece on The Greyhound ?

It appears to have a vote count set at zero and user comments are also absent.

So how was the decision made ?

Re: I’m being spied on

BH and I have completed our postal ballots.

Each of the two sets of papers had our unique roll number plus another longer unique number, which had our roll number embedded in it.

Any form of scanning, manual or digital, would quickly reveal our identity and how we voted.

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2

if you believe Trump the Grump is bad - the owner of Sports Direct is a world beater in demanding his pound of flesh out of any proposed deal.

Cannot think what number he might come up with to permit a mural on his wall.

Bell Green Gasometers – A Compromise

I draft this compromise proposal with the intent that I will have diligently avoided any criticism of any party's expressed views or actions. If in reading it you you feel I have failed – please bring it to my attention. Equally – as you read It and reach an early view that the proposal is as outrag...

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2

I took up the case of the pre-Sports Direct diagonal timber shuttering that enclosed that entire area plus the poor quality of the general white surface on the remainder of the development with Lewisham planners. I contended that what was an allegedly approved high quality white finish was in fact a...

Re: sticky:Mural?

Did not spot it was free-standing - my bad.

You are probably right as CC rarely purchase land on which to erect their hoardings.

Could be more complex than we need especially if there are legal entanglements that cannot be resolved quickly.

But let us wait and see on the short term.

Hi Julia

I tested it twice and it worked - just retested after seeing your message - and you are right it failed..

Probably a timing issue.

Let me try a different approach tomorrow.

Re: sticky:Mural?

Naturally - one logical step after another. The Dolphin is a leasehold arrangement as I understand it. That is why I thought the elevation might belong to the undertaker and not necessarily the owners of the pub. However Clear Channel will at least know who their contract is with - and it will be in...

Re: sticky:Mural?

A well considered step, Julia. It is to be hoped that the feedback is positive. Thereafter a view would have to be formed about the transferability of the designs under current consideration, whether they are suitable and can they then be put into a public vote. Bearing in mind the crowd-funding iss...
