I agree Admin. It sounds a like a fairly shocking and harrowing experience for the victims. Here's hoping Thijseen is not let out early due to over-crowding. What's odd about this crime is that the gang hails from all points N,S,E & W and there were so many of them yet such a comparatively small...

The half-wits? Not 'Alfs? 'Alf u got n e change? Not very funny I know but about sums up my view of the place. Best stick to a name that doesn't have any apostrophes in it lest we confuse those with a less than basic grasp of English‽ [In case that doesn't come out correctly it's an 'interrobang'. I...

It's still there budwesier. It's a short cut through that goes between Mayow Road and Sydenham Road. Sort of runs paralell to the Hazel Grove Estate. You may know what was on that road previous? On Berrymans Lane there is now a fairly smart new development. When I moved here at the turn of the Mille...

French Polishers near Sydenham Library...

Fairly left-field topic so I am not expecting too many replies but any and all are welcomed. I've some furniture I need French Polishing. I used to get 'Cocco' who worked out of his home on Kirkdale to do it but he doesn't seem to be in when I try him by 'phone... So, I spied a little French Polishe...

I do really, really hope the victim is OK and that justice is served in this matter. I shouldn't fret overly much paultreacy and noangel. I certainly have always felt safer in Sydenham than I do when in more 'celebrated' postcodes and I am frankly struggling to think on one part of London, N/S/E or ...

I did see the reply on the other thread parker. I must admit I decided not to reply because as previously stated I think you're just trying to incite and have still to bring anything robust or worth debating to the table. I think it's pretty poor form to follow someone across threads to try and re-i...

Of course, that's assuming it's all going ahead and I'm allowed to play? Very presumptive of me.

If you've already got a team then I understand.

I just need to check on two things... 1) I'm meant to be visiting friends in Geneva some weekend in early May. I don't think it's that one - I'll check with the better half who booked flights etc. 2) I've got a Fulham season ticket [don't ask] so I'll check on clashes. I pretty sure I'm OK but perha...

Ahem.

As more of a Franco Baresi or a Giuseppe Bergomi [the ball may pass, the player may pass but they shall not pass together] than an Alan Hansen I'd love to throw my hat into the ring...

In the words of the indomitable Mr Humphries...I'm free!

Please let me know.

As I said Poppy you must reside in Hall Drive. Good god Eagle [intentional use of lower case g] you need to get out more dear chap. To deign for one moment that only Hall Drive enjoys the AB1 demographic in Upper Sydders is both short-sighted and simply wrong. From memory you live in Derby Hill (sh...

I have been lurking for quite a while and I have to ask whether most of the posters to this forum ever walk through Sydenham with their eyes open on daily basis. I have lived in the 'Lawrie Park Triangle' since 1981 amd whereas I used to do my shopping in Sydenham. I now prefer to walk to Penge - i...

I agree Janeco. As for parker's claim that the LB of Bromley and indeed Beckenham is richer/safer/greener etc than the LB of Lewisham and indeed Sydenham, this is clearly not for one minute true. I would also say that whilst I know not of the particulars of the incident in Sydenham, the Ben Hitchcoc...

I similarly have never set foot inside Musti's, as with Eagle. Perhaps if it renamed itself as Musti's General Store or Hardware Store (I'm not American but hope my meaning is clear) and changed that piggy-bank sign they might get some more passing trade? Frankly anywhere that looks or markets itsel...

Good. I'm glad we haven't fallen out. You did bait and I did bite - I think I didn't pick up on your sarcasm, so I am sorry for that. The point I am trying to make is that I agree that desirability can be governed by many factors. Even by perception and reputation which I'll admit is one area that t...

Good thinking ALIB. You could well be right given that things have returned to normality. My only thought against this would be I'd imgine Heathrow is much more 'drilled' in receiving these sensitive Political targets? Barty - thank you. I think we might have to agree to disagree on this one before it really deteriorates. I sit corrected - I was not aware of any stabbing where you state. I certainly missed any obvious sign of it. Hardly the same as a pitched battle between rival gangs I'd have thought but again I'm not aware of the ...

I think, in short, the reason they used London boroughs is quite obvious if you step back and think about it. They used boroughs to ensure they were comparing like-for-like. If you want to see how Middlesbrough competes then the only way to do it fairly is to ensure you are comparing population size...

Agreed Bensonby. There is this cheek-by-jowl nature of London due to the GLC actions in the 50's. Nice streets next to less favourable ones, nice areas next to less favourable. See also the proximity of Kidbrooke to Blackheath, Lewisham to Greenwich etc, etc. Even in Lewisham is never ceases to amaz...

Really? Thank you for the info nork1. It does seem as if it's calmed down again - I haven't seen the other bigger one much lately. I think it might even have had a BA livery on (the one I saw) but I could be wrong - perhaps I noticed it as Airbus tend to have more 'whiny' engines? A bit like me! I j...
