During the same time my Dad had his Provisional Driving Licence Re...

Hello all How about this book I noticed for sale in some junk mail - free magazine. POLITICALLY CORRECT BEDTIME STORIES!!! ...In this era of politically correctness the much-loved fairy tales don't hold to close scrutiny. The characters are sexist, rasist, sizeist and extremely prejudiced against wi...

Leaking plumbing and shower

Hello Soulfood

Sorry to hear you have the "Leakiest Sink!"
Just wondered if you could elaborate with the shower details.
Would it be an all electric, powershower, etc?
If you could also tell me where (if you know) the leak is and how severe?
I may be able to help.

All the best mate

Heated Towel Rail

Hello Kidney Welcome to the Forum! It sounds like the main problem is an air lock. However may I enlighten you with the use of "mini-stopcocks" The mini-stopcocks you refer to are known as a Radiator Valve (the large one with the tap) and a Lockshield Valve (the smaller valve) Sometimes Thermostatic...

Hello Lizzie

Hello Lizzie Welcome to the forum. I'm not too sure what you mean about the rainwater pipe. It should be OK for the pipe to exit onto a flat roof as long as the flat roof has its own guttering which will carry the water away. The water never actually goes down a drain, but it goes into a "Soak away"...

Dampness

Hello Mel Firstly Welcome to Sydenham Town Forum. I hope you enjoy your stay here. Dampness in kitchens and bathrooms found within internal walls are usually caused by condensation. Condensation occurs when warm air comes into contact with a cold surface. Over a period of time this can result in the...

Has PC gone too far

Has political correctness gone too far? My personal opinion - YES. Political correctness was invented as a means of controlling people's minds. The theory goes that if you can put enough pressure on people by controlling what they are able to say, then you can eventually control what they're thinkin...

Underground V Overground

Hello people of Sydenham (No prizes for realising I'm not from Sydenham) In Croydon they introduced a new tram system which many slagged off before it opened. People said it would never work. (myself included) Many giggled saying they used to have a trolley bus system in the old days which was rippe...

Disclean

Hello Annie
Yes sorry it looks though you're right....Personally I'd go for the Brick cleaner version. Basically it's Formic Acid. Try applying it 1 part disclean to 1 part cold water. That should do the trick

Soap & Bubbles

Hi Annie I trust you've had a lovely holiday! OK the best thing to do is to visit a Builders Merchant. You can buy Disclean over the counter. I was under the impression (I maybe wrong) that there was just one type. Don't forget to use goggles and wear gloves. Keep the window open whilst applying Dis...
