Re: Estate agents boards

Given that any prospective purchaser's first move is Rightmove/Zoopla etc - not driving round looking for a sign - their original purpose has gone. They are now merely adverts for the agent. Yes -outright ban is the way to go. Something to store up for the new world order we shall hopefully see afte...

Re: Mural?

Yes. The presumption must be that the artist knows best. The only person to have a veto is the person paying for it. If it is to go in a public place then the question is not whether we like it - but is it unacceptable to the majority passing it. That's a high but not impossible bar for rejection. Y...

Re: Corvid-19 Lewisham Hospital

HMG employed people who believe in eugenics . It’s not a gamble it’s a strategy But the people who reversed the policy do not. I'm more afraid we may get into the subsequent British way of fudging it with compromise at each successive Press Conference. Worst possiblle scenerio for bothe the eugenis...

Just a reminder if you watch the daily stats here: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ We are, and always have been, just 2 weeks behind Italy whether you look at cases or deaths. There is approx 10 fold increase every 10 days. That's boggling. italy (plus France & Spain) have real enforced l...

Re: Assistance for over 70s in area

And if that's unachievable, how on earth are we supposed to believe his statement that we can give the virus the push in 12 weeks? Surely it's just fantasy? If so, there will be unnecessary deaths - and a lot of them, I imagine. Capping the increase is feasible within 12 weeks. Whether the current ...

Re: Assistance for over 70s in area

Yes - priorities do seem to go astray. I'm irritated by the cries of anguish over the loss of exams and is assessment going to be fair? Ahem, the priority for the education system right now is to decide by tomorrow and implement by Monday who is coming to school and how they are going to be taught. ...

Re: Assistance for over 70s in area

May I recommend everybody takes time to read the paper published Monday that reversed government policy? It is sobering but gives a clear and concise picture of the situation. It blows out of the water "the war will be over by Christmas" mentaility of those still in denial. It's the best view at thi...

Re: Assistance for over 70s in area

Thanks Dan that 's really kind. But many over 70s, like me - don't do Facebook for various reasons. (I'm OK I have kids to look after us). I would hope some of the local organisations, like local churches, come together to set up a united action group. It's important as they are in a better position...

Re: Lewisham Council housing consultation

Do you remember the council consultation on Sydenham Road? When it didn't return the right result (basically favouring pedestrians over motorists) Lewisham held another aided and abetted by SydSoc. I assume that also produced the wrong result 'cos it was never published and the council did what it w...

Re: Bell Green development - change in public leadership?

I note that Twitter account appears to make great play of Aldi running on 100% fossil fuels because of its local generators. But think for a moment. Reconnecting Aldi to the National Grid increases demand by the same amount. How would that be met? Solar/Wind/Hydro/Nuclear is all going into existing ...

What? The real question is why SydSoc choose not to post here. If you are a member you may wish to suggest if they should make a raprochment with the current Admin. It's a bit silly SydSoc not supporting one of their own rather tha someone from outside aiming to undermine STF from afar. With lies, h...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piers_Corbyn In 2008 Corbyn stated that "CO2 has never driven, does not drive and never will drive weather or climate. Global warming is over and it never was anything to do with CO2. CO2 is still rising but the world is now cooling and will continue to do so." Also fr...

Re: London coronavirus patient turned up at hospital in Uber taxi Exclusive: woman arrived at Lewisham A&E unannounced a

It beggars belief that this person took an UBER to A&E This is more worrying than so called climate change More people have been killed in China on the roads than by this virus this year. So while it is very serious we live with other more serious dangers year in year out. At worst if it does becom...

Robin you are right to say that Chris Beach gets a bad press and even a deserved bad press isn't the most interesting read even if we all know Mr Beach's frequent acquaintances with the wrong end of the stick are legendary. This masks the real issue with our Bell Green supermarkets. Both Aldi & Sava...

Be careful JGD that you are reacting emotionally to the narrative of an individual. Look again analytically at the thread. Just like the Flavabaker one there is something that doesn't look right. In this case posts are being censored - one is explicitly referred to - but there were more. So who was ...
