yeah but how long before even smoking outside near people (children especially) becomes unacceptable? I was with a friend and her baby some weeks ago sitting outside a bar by the thames (nice and breezy) and when I it up I felt I should move two tables away. My friend must have though this perfectly...

We've got BT Vision and we live off Westwood Hill. So far its been fine. We haven't tested it to its full capacity so I really can't comment on the full package - so far we've only recorded programmes and not downloaded anything as we've had little time. We have 8mb.

We were there too Saturday afternoon, its lovely, a little haven. I spoke to the gardener, the architectural metal 'fringe' is not going to be covered, they're just structural visuals (not his words but I couldn't think of anything else). I do wonder about how busy its going to be on Saturday evenin...

Sorry, I have no answer for you, I have a question of my own. My hairdryer keeps cutting out. It will work for 3mins then stop. If I don't remember to turn it 'off' and leave the room, it comes back on again of its own accord (once its cooled down perhaps?). Does anyone know if this is repairable? I...

Are you aware of The Big Toddle walk round Dulwich Park on Monday 2nd July? Its for children under the age of 5 and its in aid of Bernados Children's Charity. If you Google 'big toddle' you will see all the details. Its half a mile and from the looks of last years pics it looks like a lot of fun. Pr...

... sorry, I'm on a roll... And, they do know the neighbours in the block because I personally introduced them. We are in contact with all of them and if there were any problems with the tennants I would hear about it, I often email and ask if all is ok. I would hate any tennant of mine to upset the...

.... Oh and may I add that renting out a property (for responsible owners at least) involves a LOT of general maintenance and cost, and in the medium-term makes no profit whatsoever (in fact the opposite is true at the moment). I care about the flat I own and the people in it.

Muddy Waters, my wrist is duly slapped. I own a property in Sydenham (not in your road from the description) which I rent out and as I walked past yesterday the front privet was an overgrown mess! It does say in the lease that the tennants are responsible for keeping it tidy so I'll get onto the age...

You've touched upon a real bug-bear of mine. I am at present looking after a little boy who goes to nursery 40 mins walk from me and I walk him there and back (in his buggy when he gets tired) all the way. I do get the bus back to go collect him for times sake but the amount of teenagers (And fit ad...

We had no cold water this morning (Westwood Hill) and I rang Thames Water before 8.00am. I too was told there was a problem up at Crystal Palace/Gypsy Hill. It also caused a big traffic jam, I think it was a burst main. Its back on now though.

Yes, if you can provide a bank statement showing you are solvent that should be ok. They might ask you to pay three months rent in advance if you're not working, if you can afford to pay even more in advance that would be even better.

The agencies which first come to mind are UNIPLAN, ACORN, and PROPERTY WORLD, all based in the High Street. I would think its best to use an agency rather than rent privately, you get more protection that way, your Landlord will have to make sure the property has a current gas safety certificate, yo...

...it was up for sale recently. Not sure if it still is. If you do a search on findaproperty.com for houses over £1m you might see more pics including some of the inside - very minimalist and looks unlived in.
