Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
Ha, SE23 is of course weirder than SE26 , but I meant something set up to try and catch out another person rather than the romantic side!

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
This current business strikes me as having an element of catfishing to it, although the whole thing is an absolute mess. There appears to be an element of "if you're not with us, you're against us" which makes it all rather unpleasant. As for names - these are my real initials, but I don't...

It's also good to have more stuff down towards that end of Sydenham Road! I'm not really a Yoga fan myself but it's a big appeal for a lot of people and will encourage footfall.

Garden Wall Replacement
We'd like to replace the (rather battered) fence at the side of our front garden with a wall. Can anyone recommend someone to do it - presumably a builder, rather than a gardener?

Re: Moving to Sydenham
I'd be interested in a drinks event - it would be great to meet some more people in the area! Due to working in central London and having non-local things on several evenings a week, that's one thing we've not managed to do as much of as we'd like

Re: Moving to Sydenham
Everywhere has changed since the 1980s - it was 30 years ago  . 2lai it's a nice area to live, although I can't speak for Hazel Grove specifically. A different feel to Peckham, but not in a bad way - both places have their own character. As I said, we are very happy here! I'd like to see the e...

Re: Moving to Sydenham
We've been here 3 years, a few streets away from Hazel Grove. We really like it! Absolutely no worries about safety, and there's a good range of shops on the high street. Also we love the Poodle Club, even though we don't manage to go as often as we plan to. Dom's already mentioned that it's well co...

Re: Sydenham - community activity ?
The whole thing is a little depressing, from the POV of someone who is merely an observer. It's just so ridiculous - forum wars are really unhelpful for all concerned! (For the record, I don't think anyone on STF is actively trying to be involved in one) Anyway, in the three years I've lived in the ...

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2018.
Socially affordable housing I think will have significant merit on this site - but not everyone will agree and this matter needs the community to be fully engaged in public consultation. I'd be pleased to see this, but only as part of a plan which actually looks at the area holistically (that goes ...

Re: Sainsbury's Bell Green
I don't think they'll put in a Starbucks when they have their own cafe (and I hate the coffee in Starbucks, so would prefer a different chain anyway) but definitely agree on the windows! I've noticed that too Sophie, it is a bit disconcerting - especially if you're on your own at night. But there's ...

Re: Bell Green Masterplan Presentation at Bellingham Assembly
Thanks for this. I wish SydSoc would post on this forum as well as SE26.life. If it had been posted here, I'd have seen it ahead of time and might have been able to go - I was even at home that evening! As a resident of Perry Vale ward within about 5 minutes of Bell Green, I've got an interest in wh...

I've not tried the Mamma Dough in Sydenham yet, but have had takeaway from one of their other branches which was really good. Hopefully it's just teething issues.

My work PC has Chrome and IE, and they're also still https with the padlock. Might be a Firefox issue? Someone with more techy knowledge than me can probably advise! Sounds a bit strange that only one browser would stop being secure.

Mine is still showing as https, with the little padlock (I'm on Safari) to show that it's using an encrypted connection.

Ancient Trees
Has anyone come across the Ancient Trees Inventory? I've just done a search for SE26, and whilst we don't have any "ancient" trees there are a lot of "veteran" ones in Mayow Park (I like the phrasing!). It's here: https://ati.woodlandtrust.org.uk/
