Just passed The Greyhound on the bus and noted that work is going on on the roof - felting has been completed and framework for the tiling was being installed.

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

There's been a "Greyhound" pub on this site since 1719 - for nearly 300 years. I don't see any reason for changing its name after all this time.

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Can we settle for a couple of greyhounds as part of the planning permission outside the front door of the pub for a starter?

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

If you are desparate to talk about statues and the roundabout and PhDs why not start a new topic?

Back on topic.

I've been told that work on The Greyhound is due to recommence this week, with tomorrow likely to be when they return to site. I'm trying to discover if there is a revised timetable for completion.

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

In response to a query from the Sydenham Society about the apparent lack of activity on site we have been advised that planners "have recently spoken to Purelake who advise that works on the exterior of the building have ceased temporarily whilst bargeboards and rafters are being manufactured/ ...

Re: Meeting re Kirkdale issues?

Easy to criticise, Lee. The Sydenham Society was initially supportive. However the question of health and safety for a cookery school with 4 cookers in the main "retail area" with an enclosed space behind for toilets, storage, washing up etc needs to be addressed seriously for Health and S...

Speed cameras on Sydenham Hill

A word of warning. The speed limit on Sydenham Hill is 20 mph and brand new live speed cameras have been installed.

I understand the Turdis/toilet is on the agenda for the Sydenham Assembly meeting planned for Thursday 17 September to be held in the TNG building in Wells Park Road at 7.30pm - look out for full details in the quarterly Assembly Newsletter due to be delivered through every door in the Sydenham Ward...

Several of us turned up anyway but not enough to lift the car off the the car resting on its wrecked front bumper. Anyway in the meantime someone has nicked its battery so its going to have to be a lift job.

Re: Car in Venner Square

As we appear to have started a new page - I'm re-posting my last message. Cllrs Best and Onikosi have been trying to get this car removed all week. It is confirmed that if the car has valid tax which it has, the abandoned vehicle department of the Council is unable to remove the vehicle. Latest info...

Re: Car in Venner Square

Ok - I thought 6..30pm Friday evening might be more appropriate. Hopefully LBL will resolve this latest problem in our high street, but otherwise it's up to us - So see you Friday evening at Venner Road Sq. Meanwhile- all hands on deck at 6.30 pm with an advance party identifying and securing a mean...

Re: Car in Venner Square

Great - 6pm! Let's make sure Sydenham Market takes place on Saturday as organised. It's not going to be clean work, maybe we'll need a few extra hands so if 6.30 is more convenient then so be it. If a slightly later time is better, speak now! We probably need another 2 or 3 more volunteers. It's a p...

Re: Car in Venner Square

C'mon guys and gals - the suggestion that this car should be moved manually before SEE3's Saturday's market with SAF Street Happenings needs to be organised, if LBL does not do it. What's more important - moaning about an abandoned car or making it difficult for those who have signed up for the mark...

Re: Water supply problems in upper Sydenham

Update: The immediate leak has been repaired although a "proper job" may need to be done at a later date. TW are slowly opening the flow to the 6000 residences affected by this leak. This is in order not put too much immediate pressure on the rest of the 12" main and causing further p...
