Traffic chaos

Jews Walk at the junction with Kirkdale has been closed - looks like major utilities work about to happen judging by the pile of stuff being left by long low-loader. Traffic at top end of Kirkdale has been diverted for some days now - not sure why. There is a long queue of vehicles trying to get int...

Re: Greyhound Guerilla Gardening

It's a London Overground wall! Lewisham have alerted LO but who knows when any work will be completed. Buddleia roots growing on the railway bridge, easily seen from platform 2, and on the other side of the bridge, visible from the gap next to The Orb will be also be causing problems - probably alon...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Back on subject... Pat on the back for Sainsbury's (not responsible in their Lease) for some guerilla gardening this morning. They've cleared the weeds in the piazza outside their unit and on Springhill. All slowly moving in the right direction.....not as quickly as we in Sydenham would want but.....

Nope - that's Lammas Green further along Sydenham Hill, City of London owned and a conservation area.

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

To reply to Stuart. Anyone who is a member of the Sydenham Society would have learned through our summer newsletter, distributed by end of May (autumn edition going to the printers on Monday), that " Kirkdale/Springhill is a likely future development site. We understand that the site fronting b...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Last Saturday's Sydenham Assembly provided a written update from our local councillors " The Greyhound Public House has now been sold on and we await details of when the transaction will be complete. Unfortunately we are uncertain when the pub will be operational but we have asked the planning ...

Re: Greyhound Guerilla Gardening

Have a look at the retaining wall between Sydenham Road and the drop-down into Station Approach. In-growing buddleia roots were revealed when the overgrown weeds were cleared prior to the takeover by Emine. I understand that the roots have been treated with glysophate so hopefully this particular pr...

Re: Where is the Sydenham Gap?

OK - so it's Lonnie Donegan with one 'n' and the Cumberland Gap is in the USA... and the gap was 15 miles, not the railway track - should have googled first...

Re: Where is the Sydenham Gap?

Why not the railway line cutting through Sydenham Hill Woods - with a purpose built bridge to cross the gap?

Lonnie Donnegan's "Cumberland Gap" referring to 15 miles of railway track comes to mind....

Re: Refuse Collection

I may be wrong but I think all contents in Lewisham's black bins go to Selchp and are incinerated. I'm not sure how much goes to landfill. I expect I'll be put right.....

Beware 3-way traffic signals at Penge W j/w Crystal Palace R

Local residents need to be aware of 3-way traffic signals at LP Road junction/w CP Pk Road/Thicket Road today - not sure for how long or for what reason. Major back ups leading to similar at Westwood Hill today

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

As Biscuitman said on 29 April: "You're right to say that Purelake were using this month, i.e. the remainder of the ACV moratorium period, to assess the viability of the offers they've received, but now that the moratorium has ended it will still take time for a deal to be finalised. Until a de...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

On STF there are always rumours, FCtSC - what good are rumours? The Greyhound is 'Under Offer' but until after 28 April that is where matters stay. Meanwhile the ACV moratorium provides time for due diligence to be undertaken. The building itself is a shell and will need to be completley fitted out ...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Let's try to be positive regarding the second unit. It's not going to be a long term estate agent - at least not at this point in time. Ok, so the wndows which might cost £15-20k to install, will not be done at this stage. This unit will be a kind of pop-up shop - open for anyone, including possible...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

To repeat Purelake confirm that their recent marketing literature has been aimed at pub operators. The property is to be sold with the purchaser being made fully aware of its rec...

Good news! Purelake confirm that their recent marketing literature has been aimed at pub operators. The property is to be sold with the purchaser being made fully aware of its recently acquired legal, and existing planning status – as an Asset of Community Value. It will be for the purchaser to asse...

Re: Sydenham vs Forest Hill

In the other direction - coming out the station and going up Westwood Hill. The 122 and 450 buses do seem to be joined at the hip at this time of night and complaints are on-going about their time-tabling - however missing one of these and, certainly between 11.15 and 11.45pm and forced to consider ...
