Is ABC carpets still there. It used to be down past Lidl set back a bit in Georgian terrace. They have been v. good when we've used them.
And I think House of Linens does carpets under the new ownership.

Re: New web site for Sydenham Town Centre
I agree, although the 'street view page' is a good idea in principle, because our high street still looks pretty dire it does little to advertise its good points at this stage!

Re: No Sydenham Music Festival this year
Presumably they will be looking at other funding streams but have not been left with much time for this Spring/Summer's event. I am sure they will have booked people already too! Maybe the Sydenham community fund could contribute next time applications are received or a donation given by the Sydenha...

Re: HIGH STREET REGENERATION FUNDING
That shop was ok until they ruined their shop front (against conservation rules) and installed one of those tacky mobile phone kiosks. (can our councillors really be local if they don't use the high street enough to notice when these things happen and act on them?) How can Sydenham apply for the Mar...

Many come from west London too....with two-bed flats starting at 400,000 in some parts you would be crazy not to consider Sydenham. Less traffic and great transport...

Hi Juliette
It is very close to Co-Op just past the chemist. They have a lot of stuff in there but it is worth wading through. Can get all your crafty bits for making stuff with the kids etc.

Re: Stationery Box Shop
I was in there the other day. It is open again. Hurray! Didn't want to lose that shop. They also do some artists' supplies and a few toys etc, half-decent cards and xmas cards as well as lots of stationery choice, good quality stuff, not what you get in pound shops. The owners were abroad for a bit ...

We shouldn't knock businesses like Blue Mountain, if you have complaints maybe you should contact them directly, it's businesses like this that give Sydenham some hope for the future!

Re: High Streets and Markets
It seems all investment in Sydenham has been put on hold because of the Tfl project which has been at least five years in the making! We shouldn't underestimate the impact of difficult and dangerous crossings, battered railings and sign posts, a lack of trees and quality planting on attracting peopl...

Re: Christmas Lights in Sydenham Rd
I'm glad someone posted about this. I thought it was just a borough thing until I saw Forest Hill's. My kids loved the ones in Penge (which were similar to Forest Hill's) - far more magical. Please don't say Sydenham's were cut back because of spending on the Mosaic - which has come from the communi...

That is crazy, but it feels like that sometimes crossing Newlands Park Road at the junction of Sydenham Road. Cars just drive at you!! This evening someone beeped me when I crossed just after they turned red for one set of cars, coming down the high street who might want to turn right into NWP...

Re: ESTATE AGENT SIGNS IN THE HIGH STREET
The Two Halfs (can't remember if is has unnecessary apostrophes or not) would be a great location for the window advertising along Lee's What if, ideas. I can't remember seeing a To Let sign, but maybe it would be worth contacting the estate agent involved directly to ask if they would be interested...

Re: Zebra Crossing on the Bridge by Sydenham Station
Hi Chris, thanks for reminding us what is in the pipeline, but in the meantime would it be possible for you talk to the council or Tfl and see if they can alter the phasing on the lights at Newlands Park (or suicide corner as someone pointed out) so that it can be made a bit safer until the scheme i...

Re: Zebra Crossing on the Bridge by Sydenham Station
Whenever we discuss this, people seem to miss the point (not all of you but some). The bit I was referring to is at the top of Newlands Park, at the junction with Sydenham Road. Basically if you want to walk up the high street on the left hand side of the road and cross Newlands Park. It is not an u...

Re: WHAT IF WE DID THIS TO ATTRACT BUSINESS TO SYDENHAM?
I wonder if Sydenham has been neglected (and it seems over many years) because it is on the outskirts of the borough.
How many councillors actually live in the wards that cover the high street and upper Kirkdale for example? Does anyone know?
