It has been going on for ages. There's even the occasional whiff of gas near Lidl's ...

Not a conspiracy...I hope... more an unfortunate convergence of circumstances.

ALIB, I agree basically with what you are saying...But what people want isn't necessarily the same as what is good for society or for many individuals. It is generally recognized that fewer cars on the roads means better health all round, fewer deaths and injuries, a better environment, lower carbon...

Feet? Legs? [bike or more directly foot on ground] What an idea...lets hope it catches on..many do seem to be catching onto the idea. Hope the novelty doesn't wear off. Hmm...bus delays?... Traffic on the roads [including school run cars?!!] maybe something to do with this problem!! But honestly...I...

School Run

How about jacking in the unpaid sideline of kids' chauffeur on the head.
Good for the heart, good for the lungs, good for the environment, good for stress levels, your pocket / purse, blood pressure, waistline...

Give it a go... Go on...You know it makes sense.

What's this about 'no parking...spaces ...only bikes'...? I would have thought the fewer cars in London...the better?? [3000 or so dead on UK roads per year, many thousands more maimed for life, ongong problems re juvenile asthma, 'congestion', global warming...shall I go on... ?] Bikes bad? Cars go...

Church/cinama?

Is this the same 'church / sect' that believes that 'God wants you to be rich'...Hmmm...What's that I recall ...something about rich men and eyes of needles? Well, I think a cinema would be a great idea considering the alternative...a 'church', in effect, devoted to the ideals of the prophetess' Tha...

strikes.Salaries

Average? Income? Salary? We should take care... There are huge numbers on low wages...trying to make ends 'meat', with a real 'steak' in their communities...That's the only 'steak' they'll be able to afford... There are also a few who make millions in salary / perks / fringe benefits. Trough-guzzlin...

Strikes

I have real sympathy with companies and individuals who need the postal service to survive... But we must not get away from the point that it is...a service. It should serve everybody, including the little old man / lady in the country whose post office / postal delivery is a lifeline. [Not just a m...

Sydenham High Street

Oh dear! I was asking a question...Maybe/ perhaps ...Sainsbury's... etc. As an opening to move the conversation on. I can assure you... There was no all-out attack on that venerable well-loved institution... Ye Locale Superstore!..[substitute any supermarket brand you like].And yes ..Progress, marve...

Strikes

Strikes, 'modernisations', 'rationalizations', pay cuts, lay-offs, exploitation... Its an ongoing vicious circle and the powerful and wealthy have always come out on top. Modernisation sounds good, but it is often a cover for job cuts. I don't see anything particularly 'modern' in a lengthening dole...

Sydenham High Street

Do you think 'Sainsbury's ['Savacentre'..What's in a name / name change...??!!] has anything to do with our High Street's present condition? Nearby superstores do tend to have a knock-on and ongoing negative effect on local high streets...But that's economics, I suppose. Didn't we have a Woolies onc...
