I think a really decent pie and mash shop would be an excellent addition to the Sydenham culinary scene. Proper pie and mash + liquor...Lovely.

Sydenham was home to a proper wet fish vendor some years ago.

As I have said...Borough Market is good but pretty steep. I could hardly catch my breath when I saw the price of the Belgian beers on one of the stalls! I agree, London Bridge [Borough] food market is pretty good. But it is rather expensive and it can get very crowded, especially at this time of year. My advice is know what you want and get there early.

Yes, it looked terrific. You can see that shops in the past looked 'class'. The architecture 'above' was matched by the shop front 'below'. Today this is rare. So many shops at street level look rubbish or just 'cheap' or flashy. Aesthetics are invariably sacrificed on the altar of 'new' and 'modern...
