Re: Local Damp Survey Company

You might have condensation problems too. We have that in our basement flat. We called a company called Envirovent who did a survey, gave us loads of information and then after a survey fitted two of their heat-exchanging fans in the kitchen and bathroom. Not cheap but if its left it only gets worse...

Re: Golden Lion pub

Husband and I had half a roast chicken in The Signal on Friday night, it was really really good. Very moist and so much of it - we brought half of ours home and had it again on Saturday. Staff very friendly and professional too. We will definitely be back.

Can we swap?

Would anyone like to swap (and swap back afterwards) a steam cleaner which will work on wood; for my patio pressure hose. I was thinking we could swap over for a week or two. I really don't want any more 'stuff' in my house. The pressure hose has only been used once and not by us! We lent it to a ne...

Re: Man taking pictures of houses on Girton Road @ 10pm

Have you got a lovely garden or a nice front door? She might have just been taking a photo so she could show her partner what kind of new door she wanted. Or she might want to purchase a plant that's in your garden. Its something I would like to do but would probably be too shy. I have done it on ho...

We went last night. Great food and service. What struck me was the freshness of the chicken and fish. We are so pleased we have this restaurant and will be regular visitors I'm sure.

Re: Waste disposal

I think the problem with cost is the £180 one has to pay the council for disposal. That's what we found when we were looking to have our loft cleared. Add on £170 for labour and the cost is £350 !! Oliver, please can you tell me how you can be 'reasonably' priced when the cost is £180 before you eve...

Dr Ruth Williams is fabulous and so is Dr Catherine Ward. Be aware though that if you need injections of any kind (as in steroid inections for chronic pain) not all the Drs can administer them and I once got an appt with a locum who couldn't do it. I know that Dr R can and Dr Kangestan (though he ha...

Re: Recommendation for Bi-Fold doors please

Thanks, we have had quote from Anglican and surprisingly enough the price quoted was what I had in my head after talking to my architect friend and a builder friend. Waiting for one more from Norwood but I think we'll go with Anglican.

Recommendation for Bi-Fold doors please

Hi, has anyone had bi fold doors installed ? Would you recommend who you used ? Its a minefield, if someone could give advice we'd be grateful. We have been told that we'll probably be given an initial price of double what we should pay and that there are different types of glass (double or triple g...

Kent House Surgery between Penge and Beckenham are so friendly and gentle. They sorted me out after years of abscesses and fear. The receptionists are lovely and the dentists are very understanding. I have an injection before they put any implement in my mouth as my fear is one of those pointy thing...

Sunday lunch - Croydon. Need a reccommendation

Hi all, a friend will staying over at LGW on Sunday night and I thought we could meet halfway (she's not transport savvy but could get to Croydon). Does anyone know of a classy place where we could get a cocktail and a roast late Sunday afternoon? A posh pub would be ok, or a hotel.

Many Thanks.

Oh that's great to hear Pally. Im pleased you are through it and doing well. I'm female, in treatment.... a l o o o o n g cycle of treatments. Don't hesitate to say hello if you see me round and about. I'm short, I'm usually with a balding husband who's got more hair than me right now. and I'll be w...

Re: Won't be having loft insulation

That's good advice and if I were going to be in this house in ten years I would do it - even to break even (for the environment innit?) but I'm not sure I'll even be alive - depends on whether the good doctors at Guys ( and they are good !) And the fab new cancer drugs (and they are good too!) can k...

Re: Packing and removals service

Pickfords are very good. We had them move us paid for by our employer. Very expensive though - when we moved and had to pay ourselves we chose a local, cheaper company. Who thoroughly dissapointed me, one chap taking tins from the cupboards and then another telling me he wouldn't take the rest becau...

Re: Won't be having loft insulation

Yes. No, of course not. I was hoping to pay someone around £200 but knowing as I do now that disposal of waste costs £180+vat I can see that was unrealistic. Also I realise now that employing someone with insurance is important (the loft isn't boarded) so no use just accepting an offer from young fi...
