Re: Payless, Sydenham
I wonder if this is an issue for reporting to the Environmental Health Department as it concerns food. Also if food is rotting outside the premises it will attract rats. I was going to suggest similar when looking at this thread before. The Food Standards Agency gave it a hygiene rating of 2, back ...

Rod, would you like to explain why Mamma Dough is not facing the same opposition mindful it is next door to Nando’s?

Re: New Aldi approved in Bell Green
Just to give another example: The Nando’s - Great addition to the area in place of a large empty shop. Great addition in terms of a different dining experience (not too similar to anything else in Sydenham) catering for different people - I.e: family dining, teenagers or younger people which Sydenh...

Re: Sydenham Post Office to close
May the new ‘stationery shop’ containing the new Post Office be WHSmith? If not, who is it?
Re: New aldi
I thought Sainsbury’s owned the Toys R Us site and therefore would not entertain the idea of letting a fellow grocer open there. At least that’s what was bandied about on here not so long ago.
The Aldi drawings above would suggest that is no longer true, if it was before.

Some pretty crass levels of conjecture on this thread. Local business deserves better than local keyboard warrior putting two and two together and coming up with a potential five... Keyboard warrior? Power to the people that can hold businesses accountable for poor service or food. You carry on wea...

Re: Mama Dough
Now that Nando’s is open, I thought I’d start a separate thread for any news on Mama Dough. There was no indication of works starting when I walked by earlier. Does anyone have any insight? For a start, can we update the actual name of this thread to ‘Mamma Dough’ which is how the restaurant chain ...

Re: New plans for Calabash of Culture site
John H said There is a need for a fried chicken fast food outlet such as Kentucky Fried Chicken. Then you'll be pleased to hear that our closest KFC (Penge) serves Halal meat. The Penge KFC does not sell Halal meat, there is a tool on the website that shows those that do, and Penge isn’t one of tho...

Re: New plans for Calabash of Culture site
I just logged my opposition and didn’t receive the response saying the submission had been withdrawn.... it may therefore be worth emailing just in case it hasn’t being withdrawn! I feel strongly against yet more fast food restaurants in general for environmental and health reasons. It may well be ...

With respect @parker l think there are bigger fish to fry than the lettering on a Nandos sign.... [1quote="parker"]The grey looks smart but the grooves from the triangles within the lettering make it look as if something is amiss. Why can’t they sand the lettering down somehow, like this?...

Who knew so many people in Sydenham chewed gum. When you look at the amount on the floor on Sydenham Station Approach you wonder how Sydenham isn’t the chewing gum capital of the world!

Re: Poundstretcher in old co-op site
They have Weatherpoons at motorway service stations now...... I know, they have one! Doubt the chances of one opening in a retail park around here are very high though. Personally, I’d love to see what they could do with the old Co-op site, Wetherspoon restore the most outlandish variation of build...

Re: Poundstretcher in old co-op site
Yes, or one of the others, whose future has to be dodgy. Ever seen Next busy? I would suggest, though, that they take over the Sainsbury's cafe. It is a underused, huge space, and would be a huge success, I'm sure. While Sainsbury’s are offloading space to different retailers I’d doubt it would loo...
