Re: Knife crime in Sydenham
The bit about 'we haven't got any f.ing money' wasn't actually true. I had just paid my friend my rent (as she was also my landlady). She had £360 in her pocket.

Re: Knife crime in Sydenham
Yes I have been the victim of a knife crime, he was about 14 and he put his hand around my neck with a knife - the friend I was with took his arm from my neck and said 'we haven't got any f.ing money' and he and his mate ran off. And yes, I did feel sorry for him. It was quite some years ago and he ...

I know Lisa, it is sad. And hard to accept; but it is true all the same :-( BUT.. people ARE listening. The message is getting through... The Government are finally realising that Early Intervention is absoluely key and with funding and support from the Police - who are not just getting it but FUNDI...

Tim, really... its not going to happen. Not with the tone of some of the conversations and attitudes of some people this forum. This of this forum as if it were a physical 'space' and you're looking through the window and overhearing some of the conversations. Would you really want to come in, or wo...

Re: My take on London's Riots
Thankyou STF... Hear Hear all the way xx I don't know how you have the patients to carry on knowing that some people really are too narrow minded, selfish (and lets face it, just not very bright) to understand what you are saying. But I do, and I thank you.

Re: This forum and the Sydenham Society
Syd Society Members probably don't post coz this is all a bit too 'lowbrow' for them... too many mealy mouthed anti-immigration, tabloid reading ranters going on about 'benefit scum' and calls for a fat-tax. I would guess its all a bit tedious for for people who are above the mire -maybe they have b...

Re: Vicious Dog Attack Sydenham Road
Which 'well known' dog are you talking about? Are you talking about the street drinker's dog? Because I reported that to Safer Neighbourhoods last week for getting a bit lairy with tatooed face man (he was drunk, it was getting excitable)... Safer Neighbourhoods were helpfull. I also reported my con...

Re: People power
All the banks were closed and the co=op but that might have been to let people who might have to travel through, or to - places where there might be trouble get home. We were told at work we could go early for that very reason; for people who might have to drive or go through Croydon or places where...

I was there at 4.15 and it was fine, very busy. You make it sound like the road is closed and everyone has deserted the place, there were still shops open including pfc and hajis. And lots of people out and about.

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)
Right, well.... I did leave work at four. I walked to the high st, turned right, the sun was shining, the traffic was busy, there were women and children and shopkeepers - tatooed face man and his mate were asleep. I smiled at people, they smiled back I walked down to the co-op and then back and hom...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)
I agree. I'm not in favour of boarding up shops and us all going home to cower behind the sofa. That's like saying 'come and get us'. These are youths, not the attack of the zombies. Don't just lie down people! I'll be leaving work at four and I'll be in the high street going about my business and w...

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)
I think it would be interesting to know how many of these kids have hands-on, engaged and interested Dads? In fact, how many of the MOTHER'S of these teenagers had Dads who positively engaged with them as they grew up? I think its time to stop thinking its OK for teenage girls to get pregnant, it is...

"Pure, White and Deadly" by Prof John Yudkin - probably out of print but you'll be able to get it second hand. A real eyeopener about the poison that is manufacutred sugar and the rise and rise of Tate and Lyle. It would be a banned substance if it were new today. I haven't eaten a doughnu...

The MPS need to publicise the alternative to 999 for "non-urgent" calls more widely.

Re: Can anyone tell me about the domed building on Cobbs Cor
Its a one bedroom flat, the dome is the bedroom accessed by a spiral staircase. Charming but not very practical. Its been up for sale twice in the past seven years or so.
