Re: 5-a-side footie

Trickster: I suspect we can more than fit you in and you're always more than welcome. As it happens - in a he's so fat he's been counted twice type of moment* - I think the gaffer has written down FatBackFour more than once.

* Of course, Nick/FB4 isn't fat but that would ruin the 'joke'.

Re: 5-a-side footie

Hope Bazwaldo's ankle is OK? I left the pitch a bit shamefaced after letting the red-mist descend...like Roy Keane temper but without his ability. Sorry again Baz. Genuinely no malice in the tackle. As we've discussed before I'm not sure what the answer on fees is. That kitty is huge. I'm still slig...

Re: 5-a-side footie

As much as I love the Beatles I bought the rooftop Apple (Jermyn St?) gig on iTunes when it was finally released.

W*nk.

Sometimes myth is better than fact as opposed to fact being better than fiction?

Re: 5-a-side footie

Tenuous in the extreme but not too long ago I wondered as to whether or not posters would regale our 1492'nd post [In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue...et al] accordingly. Today, I find myself wondering if 7-a-side posters can compose something to celebrate our 2000th post. Which is imminent......

Re: 5-a-side footie

At this point I think it only fair to offer my feedback for the NSC pitch . I played there this past Monday and IF you didn't hear it first-hand on Weds I am referring to the facilities at the National Sports Centre in Crystal Palace Park...you know the place, between the stadium and the swimming po...

Re: 5-a-side footie

I wouldn't feel safe going to Catford. It makes even Penge look like Knightsbridge. And anywhere that has PCSOs/wardens posted to keep order when just the school children leave school, well, I'm not convinced I would like to walk among them when they're bigger*. But it's not that which I'm mainly co...

Ditto. Would prefer option 3, then perhaps 2 with 1 & 4 not really rocking my world at all.

Re: 5-a-side footie

Excellent game last night chaps. Best in a while, I think. I expect Lem and I will step aside for the returning Gaffer. We didn't get round to voting on the future so I am not sure where we are... I will throw the idea out there that whatever we decide to do I'm prepared for the distinct possibility...

Re: 5-a-side footie

OK, between Lem and I we've taken an executive decision to go ahead and book the 7.30 slot on Weds at the usual Goals . It's only an hour earlier and here's hoping that this doesn't inconvenience too many. We can have a chat before/during or after the game about what our options are and how we proce...

Re: 5-a-side footie

Gentlemen, Well, the very worst news. Having recontacted the NSC it would appear that not only is the cost more like £62ish there is absolutely no availability whatsoever for the bar pitch on Weds evening from 7PM onwards. They were quite keen to work out who had given me this bum advice (apparently...

Re: 5-a-side footie

I haven't been able to 100% confirm the pitch as yet. The bookings team only keep office hours but when I called this morning the slot was free. Will call them first thing tomorrow to firm us up.

Re: 5-a-side footie

As of this moment we would be able to play at the NSC on Weds at 8.30 and it would be £33.60.

I'm playing a game with Syd_Stone's team on Monday so will report back regarding facilities.

£33.60 for NSC or £90 for Goals...bit of a no-brainer? Especially after the way they've just treated us.

Re: 5-a-side footie

Chaps, We've officially been ousted from Goals this week. Disappointing but there's nothing we can do. Someone has made a block booking and clearly this takes percedence over our booking. I don't like it but that that's the way they're operating. So, they can do a 7.30 or a 9.30. Or we see about mak...

Re: 5-a-side footie

Edit/update: I've literally just come off the 'phone with Syd_Stone. I'm going to go and play with his lads on Monday to check out the facilities. Use them in anger, so to speak. If nothing else it'll be good to have another team locally to perhaps pit our wits against - the odd 11-a-side per chance...

Re: 5-a-side footie

I make us 13. 11 without Alex's mates*. We'll take a vote on moving pitches on Weds as it's not one persons decision and it'd be good to understand if by doing so we lose valuable members like Darren (Middlesborough). I'm incredibly keen to avoid this. Goals are being eerily quiet about what's happe...

Re: 5-a-side footie

Thanks for your comments Syd_Stone. I must admit I do read some of the rest of the forum and it was your post - on the thread about CPFC coming home - that alerted me to the fact that there were some there at all. So, thank you for that. I am not sure I would have known otherwise. I do go to the par...

Re: 5-a-side footie

I must admit that whilst this debate over 'homegrounds' is timely and much needed I'm struggling to ascertain numbers for next Weds - partly of my own making by continuing the debate. So: Please, whilst offering our 2penneth over moving grounds can we also confirm availablity for next week? How clos...
