Re: LEWISHAM COUNCIL PLANNING ENFORCEMENT DESPAIR

but nothing there about hearsay. The planners use the excuse of funding to take no action. It costs no more for a planner to be out and about rather than sitting on a sticky seat in the office. The very least they can do is turn up and then deliver a letter. Forget asking your local councillor to do...

Point out any hearsay. I thought we heard from the person concerned.

Re: LEWISHAM COUNCIL PLANNING ENFORCEMENT DESPAIR

Is it possible that the activities in some way breach your lease with the freeholder and if so whether any remedy is possible? If what is being done is illegal rather than a civil breach it probably can't be ignored by the errant and elusive party. The trick will be to find which of the arrows in y...

Re: Travellers in Girton Road car park

They have gone now. I suspect the police car that was sniffing around was the precursor to removal steps. They were, after all, on the public highway... Around three or four tons of rubbish left behind.

I suggest you take a wander down Kangley Bridge Road and find out. You could, alternatively, look them up on the web.

Re: Travellers in Girton Road car park

There is an Irish Tinkers' community now parked up on the public road i.e. Kangley Bridge Road. I wonder what Penfold's make of it since they usually park a gridlock of HGVs there.

Re: Lewisham council being difficult - Jay Rayner In Deptf

The Planning Process is a matter of law. Fortunately neither I nor most people in this forum live in Deptford. I used to have an office in Deptford. From that experience I might suggest that any building that causes people to congregate together, there, is probably a potential nuisance. The ones alr...

Re: Crystal Palace Foresters Fete

I know that the Foresters were a kind of association for social and welfare purposes, though I don't know about the Crystal Palace lot. I am sure an expert will be with you in a minute. Steve Grindlay's your man, I'm sure! They were a friendly society. Some information is on the freemasons site but...

That is not a pedestrian crossing. It is a light controlled crossing. The lights govern.

Crystal Palace Foresters Fete

I wonder whether any local historians have any information on this annual occasion from the nineteenth century. It is a topic in another group I belong to where a poster popped up advertising an excursion to the event by the London and North Western Railway. Who were the Crystal Palace Foresters? I ...

Re: Mayow road/Sydenham road crossing.

There is widespread ignorance on how pedestrian crossings work. Many people do not realise, for example, that where the crossing is divided by a central reservation it is two seperate crossings. Why, have they changed the law there as well? A crossing is still one crossing unless it's staggered, su...

Re: Mayow road/Sydenham road crossing.

I don't get the logic. A zebra crossing is not time limited. Traffic lights are. If you are disabled and slow then drivers may be seeing a green rather than you.As we know, "Proceed with Caution" exists only in the Highway Code.Plus, if you were right Robin, it was not the only fact given...

Re: Should Mayo Road have controlled parking?

A lot of dumped cars are untaxed if you report to dvla they will pick them up. There's a website where you can check whether any specified registration number is taxed or not. Can't remember the URL, though. If tax discs had not been abolished you would be able to make a simple visual inspection to...

Re: Mayow road/Sydenham road crossing.

I think the people that have been killed or injured at the crossing will find it annoying. When the railings etc. were removed we were told by the "planners" it was to make the junction safer. The first day after the new layout was created there was a fatal crash there. All the crossings i...

Re: What is happening on Sydenham Road right now?

Well it was certainly not a moped. It was a high powered motor bike. With luck this was the noisy reprobate that keeps us all from having our windows open and the injuries are serious enough to keep him off the road for a decade or so.

Knighton Park Road is, in point of fact, one of the least crime ridden streets in Sydenham. Ask the local police. However the point of this thread was begging.

Re: Begging outside Sainsbury's local

Please try to be accurate when attempting to quote me. I have not advocated "bigger" roads into Sydenham. I have advocated the pedestrianisation of Sydenham Road and improvement of roads that would bypass Sydenham. Keep your personal attacks to yourself. I was referring to these statement...
