I do wish I hadn't started this now! Famous lady in questions probably shops in Somerfields, Savacentre and pops into banks. I really don't think I did any harm in mentioning that she has been in Boots and possibly lives in the 'Thorpes' somewhere, but again I apologise if it seems wrong to some peo...

Hi Rebelmc, Thanks for your comments. I was feeling really awful and uncomfortable yesterday and you've made me feel a bit better. I think it is ok to generally chit chat about where 'celebs' hang out - but not to dissect their shopping basket - which I certainly wouldn't! Perhaps my earlier message...

Point taken nasaroc. Looking back, it does sound a bit dodgy that a certain famous lady shops in Boots sometimes. In all honesty, it really was a "Wow! you never guess who I saw today" moment. No harm intended whatsoever. I do take your point though and apologise.

Hey, chill out!! As you rightly point out, it's harmless. Let's be honest now - nobody really cares about celebs.......and I would like to think that nobody would 'stalk' celebs in Boots or anything like that. It is interesting to know who lives in Sydenham and a rough idea of where. That's all ther...

Famous people in Sydenham (or nearby?)

Another one to the not very long list .......... does anyone remember the district nurse that used to be in Heartbeat when it first started? (I think she also plays a mad woman in that dodgy 'soap' Family Affairs). Well, she lives in the Thorpes somewhere and shops in Boots (according to a very good...

Winchfield Road

Hi I think you are talking about the high rise (well not that high!) flats at the top of Home park and to the side of the park.... if so, I think they are ok. A friend of mine used to live in one and they are actually very nice and quite spacious - years ago the area was reasonably quiet - as for no...

Champion Road

Hi Em, You could try De Frene Road (my road!) where the houses are around and about that price. It is a very nice road, we have allotments behind the houses and everyone is friendly - we have neighbourly bonfires and BBQ's. You could also look at Queenswood Road or Priestfield Road (which just comes...

Hi, I live very near to where you are talking about (other side of Adamsrill), and I just wanted to give you my opinions of the area. If the house you are considering, is the Adamsrill School/St Michaels School end, that it will be bit of a nightmare at about 9am and 3.30pm. People collecting their ...

According to my mum, Francis Rossi went to Sedgehill School. He was in the same year as her I think. In saying that, not sure if he was a Catford boy or Sydenham boy??!! Anyone know?

I certainly did not witness it - but my dad drinks in the same place that the said man (who was 'attacked') does. I saw the guy and admittedly he did have scratches etc etc and I don't think he's a liar.......... but a panther in Sydenham??? I don't think so. If Sydenham was way out in the sticks, t...

Maternity Units

Congratulations! I had my daughter in Lewisham Hospital in 2002 and it was very good. Recently, I suffered a ruptured ectopic pregnancy and haemorraging ovarian cyst (at the same time - how much bad luck could I have!!) and the treatment I had at Lewisham Hospital was absolutely fantastic. I owe the...

famous people in Sydenham (or nearby?)

I was just checking out the SE23 Forum and read what seemed like 100 pages of locals discussing the famous people in their area (mostly Forest Hill, Honour Oak and Dulwich). Who do we have or have had living in Sydenham? According to the SE23 Forum, Sydenham has had Duncan Goodhew, Rolf Harris and S...

According to my dad - who is a Rolling Stones fanatic, Bill Wyman used to live in Penge and he got an invite to his flat!! It's his biggest claim to fame! In saying that -not sure how reliable my family are as my mum went to see the Beatles on Woolwich Common before they were famous and walked out c...

Crime Levels

Hi, I have lived in Sydenham all my life apart from a 2 year stint in Enfield, and I would say it is relatively safe. Yes we have crime, but no more probably than any other London town. No station is 100% safe but at least Sydenham station comes out right onto the high street, where as Lower Sydenha...

Dropped my daughter off at school this morn and overheard plenty of mums talking about the incident in Sydeham high St. Does anyone know what happened yet? :?
