Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?

There's much more to the Olympic stadium's fate than a little local disagreement between a couple of footie clubs. Where were they both in the early 21C before the site had been tidied up and an infrastructure put in, were they competing to buy or build on it then? Can't stand Seb Coe, Ovett was alw...

Re:

The street sign was put there by an elderly West Indian who lived in part of the site many years ago. There's an article on the Dulwich Society website at: http://www.dulwichsociety.com/newsletters/42-summer-2006/237-villagers-notebook Ah did you mean the chap who lived in what looked like a one-ro...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?

There's a lot of controversy and opposition to the idea of the 2012 stadium being knocked down. I've not understood the politics (or whatevers) of that having much to do with CPFC's plan. I am, however, not very keen on their having anything to do with our park after changing their status to a Ltd c...

Re: Greyhound Competition Entries

I really like #29 and the idea of it being realised in metal is lovely, like the Queen Mo's Gates.

There's something ever so basic combined with technical about oxydised/anodised/coloured wrought metal and its not being solid (as in being see-through) makes it not overbearing .

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?

Re the vote on pg 1 it's apparent that the second option was a pointless one (as described at the time, who on earth would approve the knocking down of the Olympic facilities)? ...... ..... fifteen people have voted for the first yet so few have posted. Excuse my cynicism about what other threads or...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?

dickp » 25 Jan 2011 15:29 As Stuart has said, there are easy and affordable ways for the stadium to be improved or taken down if its facilities don't suit today's needs. Yep, after how many years of building will this 'currently ugly' part of the park be more pleasing and what will it all be like in...

Oh for heaven's sake Syd, just admit that your only criteria or interest in this is footie facilities. There are more and better ways than this for the Eagles' to become more aspirational and attract more fans.

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?

by ALIB » 25 Jan 2011 11:10 Have you referred to the .pdf document that has been posted, it lets us know how little the consortium intend to do for the park itself, despite squatting on half of it. They are users exploiting a coincidence in names, it's as silly for them to do so as it would have bee...

As for Kate Hoey giving it the thumbs up LOL.

She campaigned against 2012 Olympics happening in UK; I have no idea what she's not faithless about.

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?

I think you'd find, Syd, if you looked at other topics than footie-related ones that as far as public transport is concerned I do nothing but praise and recommend it (for fulfilling the needs it has now and for the massive improvements in recent years, let alone just this one). Not too long ago ther...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?

agggh you're quite right rsh, it's me that does (actually) have an eyesight problem. I'd taken them (several times) to be around 'trains' and hence my puzzlement as they often signify a quality judgement whereas my/Syd's 'convo' is about inadequacy/adequacy of that infrastructure. Nope I don't often...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?

You're talking tosh Syd and you should know it. As is this press release headed 'Eagles fly home'. http://www.cpfc.co.uk/page/News/0,,10323~2271669,00.html Don't eagles live in nests? As in Selhurst/Croydon's 'The Nest' in this case? CPP was not created for footballing purposes as you know. It was t...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?

:? Marks usually have a purpose but I'm not sure of what the asterisks can mean. Trains are trains, they're not 'trains' / *trains* so I'm puzzled re what's supposedly signified. Our locla/stopping trains are generally not standard length and they are also not prioritised on tracks, frequencies are ...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?

Hi Syd ....... brrrrrrr it's cold again today. I really don't see any point in comparing our area with those north of the river that have more frequent travel service c/o Tube lines, plus longer trains anyway than our own. I don't 'get' the moan somewhere about access to Selhurst Park. The only diff...
