Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
More VERY salient points Duchess. It's looking as if, for the mere coincidence of its name and the labourers that comprised the first amateur team, the club was bought with the cynical intention all along to use its name as the 'reason' to move on the park. ie: Buying the footie club was more about ...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
.............The fans would filter out via the race track to CP station ................ Aaaaagh  that would be horrendous. That station has been so beautified recently and is so high I'd think it the worst possible venue for happy or grumbly footie fans, tackling those steps even when sober ...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
Why does the Park have to become a building site for a few years Admin? Judging by one or two comments I have the impression that some people haven't been there in the past five years. It did use to be a dump when I was taking sprogs there but in the recent past it's been as transformed as a green s...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
CPFC press conference on Thursday http://www.holmesdale.net/ http://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=82&story=5003 Crystal Palace are set to announce plans to relocate the club to The Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. I don't like the sound of that 'announce plans'. Wouldn't they need permis...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
Conversely I wouldn't be delighted if CP football club moved from Selhurst Park to CP Park - I have experienced the disruption caused to local streets around Selhurst Park on match days and would hate to see this mayhem visited on CP/the triangle  Yes and yes. The one-way triangle was such an ...

Interbreeding? Apparently labradoodles have the weak characteristics of both ingredient parents.
Can't the vets themselves help Chris? Perhaps just by passing on a letter to their other client?

Re: ELL service to Highbury and Islington starts next month
I must be really lucky! I've never had a journey upset by Jubilee works/closures except at weekends and for worthwhile improvements .... and works that had had weeks of advance notice ..... my own fault for forgetting about them. Given that the service usually runs every 2mins I reckon that 5 days o...

Brunch at that little place adjacent to Ladywell Stn was brilliant till a month or so ago.
The owners decided they needed cheaper 'kitchen staff'. It's now a Don't Bother.

Re: Beer In The Evening
I've heard that the beer/ale at the Dartmouth Arms is excellent (or was so 18m ago when I was so told). I like the dark-foiled Leffe for a tipple at home but am a complete wuss about opening it, it's just one of those techniques I've never developed. My son was shown how to open anything bubbly with...

Re: Waitrose in Sydenham
and whether you'd do so by continuing by car or bus would be up to you Voyageuse ;-) I was pointing out that much as we'd all like to shop little and often and walk there and back it just isn't practical for all of us...... although lappies have put paid to the heavy work bags some of us still have ...

Re: Tyre slashing in Homecroft Road
Have you blocked someone's place that they regard as their 'usual'? I've had serious damage done to my car in a certain 'Close' off Kirkdale where the residents really think it's private as in non-highway! Also had problems very often when parking near Penge East station ..... can't say I blame thos...

Re: Waitrose in Sydenham
Most of Sydenham is within walking distance and buses covers the rest. Shop little and often. Surely nicer and fresher then driving down to SavaCentre for a weekly megashop. Most but not all. I live near the top of the upper part of Kirkdale and have no problem walking quickly up that 45degs (or so...

Re: Waitrose in Sydenham
That would be great, although where people will park is a puzzle! I can't understand those complaining Wr is expensive, anything's as expensive as you want to make it and I find Wr fabulous value. Eg: a wonderful box of English fruit at Xmas, 2 varieties each of apples and pears and 4 pcs of each va...
