I don't dissagree that Sydenham is a nice place, that's why I am moving here, but the amount of people after properties is the same in Brockley as it is in Sydenham, infact according to many estate agents the market fell flat in Sydenham before it did in others, mostly due to the high street which p...

Thanks for the words of encouragement, it always turns out in the end! I have found in Sydenham more than any other area I have been looking over the last 4 months (Lewisham, Brockley, Crofton Park, Forest Hill, Honour Oak, Greenwich) people putting property on the market for 20 grand on top of anyt...

Well, it's interesting to me too! There is a lot coming on the market and not as many buyers so time will tell.

Looks like I wont be in Fairlawn park after all. I got gazumped by the owners of 113 yesterday. They waited untill after I had purchased a full survey and mortgage valuation and have put it back on the market for more money. Look like I might not be coming to Sydenham after all. Why do people do thi...

What is the international guest house?

Where was it (is it still around?).

Was it replaced by a 'better building'?

Was this the most expensive postcard?

Great pictures. I bet the one of Crystal palace from the air was the most expensive.

Yes I agree normally Sainsburys are pretty good (I'm moving to Sydenham soon, but currently live in Brockley and go to the huge Sainsburys in New Cross Gate which is very very good). I still prefer waitrose though...i'd rather have them than Somerfield.

Nope, no skinhead problem. I think you are talking about the King Alfred pub down the bottom of the high street. I'm moving to Sydenham, I go there almost every weekend and some evenings and have been for ages and have yet to see or hear about any problems.

This was near Crofton Park, the original heart of Brockley before Brockley Train Station came around (there are actually two train stations in Brockley, one is unused and the original building was destroyed by fire about 4 years ago, which is the empty lot next to the railway bridge. But that's enou...

If we dislike what a store does then we should complain in writing. 2 for 1 offers/bogof are what are called 'loss leaders' where the supermarkets sell them at a loss to get people into stores. THE margins supermarkets make are normally very small. Whether they buy their goods from a cash and carry ...

I have designed packaging for most supermarkets over the 16 years which is why I am writing this. The suppliers who make Sainsbury's own brand goods are the same that supply much of the other supermarkets including M&S, Waitrose, Aldi, Asda etc, it's really out of Sainbury's hands if individual ...

Take your receipt back and complain, if that doesn't help write to head office:

Where is their head office?
J Sainsbury plc

They take these things very seriously and are afraid of the bad press. It is probably a genuine mistake. They do not do this on purpose!

This is not a 'better building' if that's the new building in the link, it's another boring box of a building, pierced by translucent squares.

RIP the DUKE.

Hi, I had a good time last night, and thanks for the excellent food! Can't wait to actually be a Sydenham Society member (once the house purchase goes through!) See you all in the future.

I think this is an excellent idea...and a great way to support new business in the area..perhaps after a meeting we could give a feedback on each place in the forum.
