No. 34 is the house to the right of Desire in your photo. I think the whole of the shop frontage counts as no. 36.

Although I am not a great fan of inappropriate speed limits I would support the imposition of a 20mph limit on all urban residential roads which were not designated as thoroughfares. This would have to be enforced efficiently, but the benefits would be very real, and would help return the streets to...

Why not get a bag on wheels? we have a family of five and do all our shopping on foot. It's easy to manage if you are a bit inventive....better for you and the environment too.... That's an idea. Perhaps I should 'liberate' one of those abandoned postman's trolleys and kill two birds with one stone...

Very true. Unfortunately one also needs to get back again, and eighteen bags of shopping make walking, or even taking the bus, problematical.

Is there not some byelaw about blocking the pavement which is being contravened here? Cars aren't allowed to park on pavements, and shops and street sellers cannot block pavements. How come the Post Office can? You will probably find that the Royal Mail, since its origin in 1516, has had a special ...

The screen problem and the worm may not be related, but it makes sense to get rid of the worm a.s.a.p. I use Spybot Search & Destroy to scan for worms: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html It would help if you posted the name of the worm AVG discovered. If it is something like win3...

In moving she has freed up the front of the Hypermarket for the street drinkers. A better space for them as it affords some cover from the rain. I see they have installed an armchair there. Probably a plus for everyone. Whilst the A-team were no social asset to the neighbourhood they seemed mostly ...

Anyone recommend an upholsterer?

We have a chaise longue which is dingy and lumpy. Can anyone recommend a local shop/individual who could restore it to usable condition?

It was damaged by a fire at the rear on the 15th Feb. There is a forum topic about this. At the time they said they would be open again 'in a fortnight', but I agree with you that in the last month a nose pressed against the door shows no signs of any change inside. I now have to trudge down to Jeff...
