Also suggest attending Sydenham Assembly next week to raise this subject - councillors will be there. Perhaps you could ask beforehand your question so that some preparation can be done to bring to meeting.

Re: Toys R Us
Re: Sainsburys landbanking - perhaps they are awaiting the Bakerloo line extension if ever it gets this far. Then the land that is currently the car park would be more valuable than it is now.

Re: New yoga studio?
Looks like this application for change of use was turned down by the Council yesterday because of insufficient information provided by the applicant. Looks like they didn't submit required impact assessments. Decision notice here: http://planning.lewisham.gov.uk/online-applications/files/37C01347384...

Re: Poodle club
Just tried on the off chance to get into Poodle Club tonight - no preplanning. Well we turned away as sold out - good on them; on one hand disappointed but on other good that its attracting custom on a cold damp February evening. So suggest you make sure you book in advance to guarantee a show. P.S....

Re: New yoga studio?
No need to wait for the studio opening to do yoga in Sydenham / Forest Hill. Lots on at the Sydenham Centre on many days - for certain 19:30 on Wednesday evenings. Also at Forest Hill Pools on Monday night at 20:15. There's lots of other sessions as well. So no validity to use Lewisham Planning as a...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
For those who don't think Bell Green is an attractive area it is in fact a gateway to our local river path - to get there you have to go through commercial car parks but at least there is a green way at the end. This river path runs up through Ladywell and is a great green artery in Lewisham and its...

Re: Council housing and the Sydenham Society
Forum messages are sometimes taken to mean something different to what the original poster intended (either by accident, or to 'push a point'). This is the nature of one way communication - when you can't hear / see the other parties in the discussion. It's also the same with the process and nature ...

Re: Council housing and the Sydenham Society
It should be noted (in the interests of fairness) that two councillors also spoke out against aspects of the detailed development proposals and one on the planning committee also voted against the details. So not just the Sydenham Society objecting. Quite interesting reading the reports - thanks for...

Re: Litter on the streets of Sydenham
Simple really - make littering as much a social 'no no' as drink/drug driving is now. But it won't happen overnight and will take lots of effort from all - individuals, families, communities, retailers, manufacturers society and the state - we all have to play a part. But as with changing attitudes ...

Re: Poodle club
Spent another evening last night at the Poodle Club - a lot of fun and laughter generated by the 4 comedians plus mc who entertained us - enjoyed the post show drinks and dancing time - a good wind down.

Re: Litter on the streets of Sydenham
Use https://www.fixmystreet.com/ there's n app for this as well - useful on phone Sydenham street cleaners are usually pretty good in my experience. Big contrast if you cross the boundary into Bromley - seems a lot worse there. I'm thinking of the Penge side. So it depends on exactly where you live....

Re: Poodle club
From memory hop king ale. Some others as well. Not draught. And a single white, red and prosecco with regards to wine.
Simple choice. Red is Rioja and was good.

What a great opening night. No photos because lets keep it private. Good fun. Lots of laughs. Great bar and atmosphere. I enjoyed myself and laughed a lot.

Thanks Pat for clarifying the involvement (not really "active") of the Sydenham Society in the ongoing Nandos application. Good to clarify.

Re: What *are* they doing to Dartmouth Road?
But they do seem to be going on for a long time. That to me is the frustration of all this. Not sure when they started but I'm sure it was before the Summer holiday season - that's part of the issue with works. If they are done quickly they are quickly forgotten about and people live with the new de...
Re: Aldi
Aldi will be focussed on getting their plans for demolishing the Bell Green gas holders in Lower Sydenham next to Savacentre and building a store there approved. Doubt they would want another store so close in Sydenham.

While the Council does not seem to operate an out of hours service there is some information on the web site. https://www.lewisham.gov.uk/myservices/environment/noise/Pages/Noise-and-other-disturbances-we-investigate.aspx Totally frustrating for residents - just had a look at this website and noted...
Re: Deliveroo
The rise of the internet, changing consumer behaviours and evolving modern retailer requirements are all calling into question traditional models of how centres work. To survive and to flourish town centre stakeholders need to think creatively about how they respond to these changes. Its great that...
Re: Deliveroo
I don't mind traditional home delivery services - but am conscious that the newer types (Deliveroo, UberEats etc.) are explicitly structured in a way that does not allow their workers to receive standard benefits such as sick pay, holiday pay and other basic benefits. They class their delivery teams...
