Re: Houses built in Crystal palace park?

Bromley want money up front from any developers for the housing. £5M , if i recall correctly, to get things started. Personally, i am now of the opinion that the Master Plan will never take-off, as there are too many issues reliant on Council funding, and uncertainty in the UK economy. As THT sugges...

Re: Houses built in Crystal palace park?

Some good points, and well made. But the park is still not able to self-fund. Even with occasional special events. I agree, not a lot needs doing to the Park, but the terraces at the very top (where the funfair is occasionaly sited) could benefit from some work. Parhaps enhancing to reflect the Pala...

Re: Houses built in Crystal palace park?

just to give food for thought, and a few comparisons. the CPCA complain relentlessly about concerts and events that are very rare in the park. They complain about traffic and noise disturbance. So why were the recent proposed garden party events cancelled ? http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/othe...

Re: Houses built in Crystal palace park?

i recall the discussion about the proposed move by Crystal Palace FC to Crystal Palace Park on STF also got wildly heated and personal. No Local Authority is capable of spending money on CPP to maintain it, let alone improve it. And residents close to CPP should not expect a beautiful empty Park (fo...

Re: Houses built in Crystal palace park?

i initially was in favour of the Masterplan. Indeed there are many facets that would hugely benefit the park, with potential revenue streams, from say the cricket pitch or cafe and bringing general tourism to the area. 'Planning Creep', as opposed to opening the floodgates is a more likely outcome. ...

Re: Houses built in Crystal palace park?

I am sitting uncomfortably on the fence on this one. On one hand the Planning Inspector has said each case should be judged on its own merits, and CPP should not set a precedent. However, I think it does create a precedent. How can it not do ? Not only does this put a lot of other (national) park sp...

Re: The Woodman

As others have stated (including myself), the exterior is a vast improvement. The issue is not following due process. I bet if W&S had retained that disgusting orange exterior paint, there would be uproar. If they followed the Planning Process there would be no issue. But we just don't know what...

Re: The Woodman

This is one picture i have of the interior and furnishings. (why do i have this stuif ?). Probably around 2009 and taken in the evening on a quiet night. The interior was mostly a lovely dark aged wood. Absolutely gorgeous. Who knows what it is now,. . . . . http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7217/717385...

Re: The Woodman

Let us not forget the main principles behind this: Wooster and Stock with their 'Kirkdale Village' initiative have put themselves in the public domain as benefitting the local community The vast majority of works to date have been conducted without Planning Permission and without being audited by Le...

Re: The Woodman

the windows, and frames and metalwork seem to be the original, just with some silver backing. When you look up close you can see it's not really a professional job at all. In fact it looks exceedingly poor when up close. Then again, it could be just a temporary measure to deter break-ins http://farm...

Re: a New Historical Walk through Sydenham Woods proposed

A couple of trees have come down in recent years. March 2009 was the first that i saw in Cox's Walk near to the bridge. Probably the biggest tree in the woods, the diameter was around a metre (see photograph) http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8024/7354677500_382b09b9ec.jpg Another big tree came down acr...

Re: a New Historical Walk through Sydenham Woods proposed

Thanks Steve. I think you may be encouraged to do another walk sometime in the Summer/Autumn. And thanks to Chris from Wildlife for London. If anyone wants the notes and photo's of the walk (historical photos, recent photos, pictures and maps) then drop me a pm with your email address and I'll whizz...
